Is there a winter temperature that's so cold that the chickens need an internal heat source. I know they're hardy, but I also know that artic blasts can bring super chilled air. Just curious.

@@randmayfield5695 Honestly, there’s not one that I know of where it is recommended and it varies wildly from person to person on what they believe. Some people believe they never need a heat source. Others believe they do. I’m in the camp of making them as comfortable as they can be. Those black squares above the roosting bars are radiant heaters that we use when the temperatures fall into the 20’s. They give off heat for them but are not as dangerous as something like a heat lamp. Some people will say this is bad and heat should never be provided. But when my chickens look cold and miserable, I’d rather have the radiant heaters. We have never used a heat lamp though. I personally think those are dangerous with how dusty chickens are so I prefer these.

The ProMix organic bale that I bought recently, absolutely positively stunted my seedlings, even the ones which I pre-sprouted. Yet all the other seeds planted in another mix sprouted and grew vigorously. The roots in the ProMix were severely stunted, the taproots ceased growing, and the seedlings failed to develop any stem growth at all. It’s as if the ProMix was treated with something that inhibited plant growth. I tested the PH, it was good (around 6.25). I’m even considering sending a sample for testing. I would strongly suggest to anyone considering ProMix, that you test it out beforehand, before you invest a lot of time, money, and labor into a grow cycle.

I would imagine so? I just made a mirror frame for Halloween though and used a different technique. There’s some antiquing paint I used on that and I could see it being a better choice for a frame.

@ Yes I think one package would be enough as long as you’re using other info in it too like cinnamon sticks and pinecones. They’re 100 flowers in it so that’s about 5 flowers per cup space. The only thing that might throw it off is if the flowers are small but the reviews show photos and the strawflowers specifically look like they’re a really good size. If you’re at all worried you could buy two packages and then just save them to use for other projects. Strawflowers are fun to work with and they hold up really well as a dried flower.
