i think the brown adds a nice touch of depth to the petals, when you see real coneflowers they often have the shadowy parts where the top covers the petals where they join.

In the nicest way possible, it might be because some people never used watercolor before. They might not have experience with this. They might also draw an outline of the leaf and then fill it in which can make it look messy. Not everyone thinks perfectly and not everyone knows what to do. Sure it might seem silly if someone can't figure it out, but some people might have a genuine problem and this could help. Some people might also not have understand how and when you should use more force and/or pressure. :)

Love the way you teach because you go right to the basics so we learn them which makes it easier to copy painting flowers etc as we know what strokes are being combined
