How annoying was the plane noise flying over? It’s putting me off a bit
@VoyagerGuruКүн бұрын
It's certainly closer to the airport than a lot of hotels, but there's a give and take since that makes the transfer much easier from Malé. Properties to the west of Malé, like the crossroads complex seem to get less air traffic than this side does. It didn't bother us a huge amount, but it's certainly something that happens on occasion. The boat traffic is also heavier in this area.

@@VoyagerGuru I really appreciate you getting back to me with a detailed answer. I think I will avoid it, as great as it looks, I feel it may spoil the beauty of it for me if boats and planes are constantly zipping around.

Not sure of how much better you've done for yourselves financially compared to 11 years ago, but your lux Cambodia videos were very very out of touch with what's actually going on.. 1. You can get much much better and more beautiful boutique hotels that are better than any of the ones you picked for much much less. Around $35 a night in a lot of places. 2. If you had the Grab app on your phone you could take tuk tuks all over the place for $1-1.50 each ride, not $5-10. 3. You can rent a tuk tuk for the ENTIRE day in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap for $20-25 a day, even for a driver to take you to Angkor Temple and wait for you and take you back for that price. Not $75. 4. You over paid for food everywhere. You can go into many many restaurants and pay $2.50-$3.50 per meal even as a foreigner. Not that you spoke about it but you can get a 2 bed 2 bath beautiful modern western home for $250-350 a month or less.

@delayedtraveler Thanks for your comment! Our channel caters to Luxury travelers. While there are plenty of experiences and accommodations that are wonderful on a budget, those aren't for everyone. Different travelers enjoy different styles and price points to travel. Overpaying is a matter of perspective. Actually from the sound of it, you also overpaid for most things, because you can get hotels, food, and transport all cheaper than the prices you listed (if you want to). $75 was the price for an air conditioned car ($35/day) and a sanctioned Angkor Wat Tour Guide ($40/day), not sure you can beat that 🤷♂️ You can get an $18 tuk tuk to take you to all the temples for the day, but that doesn't come with a guide, and it's also not an air-conditioned vehicle, which is the point we were trying to make. There are plenty of channels that focus on traveling on a budget, local experiences, backpacking, documentary film making, street food etc.... but that's not our channel. It looks like you made some good videos of your own about your travels, you should keep making them! There's no one way to travel. Have a great day, and happy travels!

@VoyagerGuru5 күн бұрын
thanks so much for your comment! that's a great question... I think Mauritius is the most "accessible" from a shopping, dining and beach experience. Seychelles is a lot more islands-based so you're traveling around via ferry or flight and it can be very expensive so I would consider Mauritius. Madagascar is very raw and also involves a lot of travel. If I were to choose, I think I'd go with Mauritius :). xx, Maren

It depends on what you're looking to do, and how long your overall trip is, but typically if you're going for a week long trip, we'd recommend a night or two on Tahiti , and then the rest on Moorea. Do you have an idea of what the activities are you're looking to do? Or what hotels you're looking at? That really sways where you should spend the bulk of your time.

Absolutely stunning! I've heard that you cannot book the overwater villas on points, but is there any way to upgrade from the standard room without paying TOO much more?
@VoyagerGuru8 күн бұрын
Hey Liam! Thanks for your comment! So you’re correct, they only make the standard villas available on points but there are a few cash options for upgrades. The cash upgrades typically depend on the occupancy but a lot of people have success doing a split stay where they upgrade for 2 nights or so at the end of their trip for a reasonable amount to experience a water villa. They do also give complimentary upgrades to Globalists. I would recommend reaching out before booking to see what availability and pricing looks like for your dates so you can decide if it’s worth it or not :)

Hey there! Sorry to hear you had a bad experience! Did you stay at the resort or just visit the public beach on a tour? It's unfortunate to hear about the trash, but that wasn't our experience at all. Seasonly, just like anywhere else there are currents that I'm sure might wash more trash up than others. On the resort side they really keep the beach pristine, and had people raking it daily. The DR does have a trash problem though, but I don't think that's a fair characterization of all of Samana! Hopefully you give it a another chance someday, we love it down here 🤷♀️

So glad you enjoyed it! They're actually quite different, Seychelles has a very unique look, with the granite boulders and much higher elevations than Maldives islands. Many hotels actually have different levels of service (in a 3 day cycle) for extended stay guests…. I would just confirm that they were following their internal housekeeping plan.
@VoyagerGuru23 күн бұрын
While I’m sure that’s true, five star hotels should have consistent cleaning practices every day of a guest stay. Consistent daily cleaning should include the bare necessities like fresh towels, replacing used items like toiletries, wiping down surfaces etc. Above and beyond would include things like organizing guest toiletries onto a white towel or cloth, wrapping charging cables etc
