I bought a Ferrell Reed Bergundy knit tie for $2.00. It has the brand of tie on it but not what it is made of so I am not sure abut that. I know you talked about knit ties at one point but now I can't find many of them to compare pricing. I am thinking about $24.00. Am I in the ball park? Next time I will make sure any tie I buy has the tag that says what it is made of.

A lot of knit ties are wool, but there are knit silk, cotton and cotton blend as well. I don't think Ferrell Reed brings a lot of brand equity to the table, but I've sold many generic square tip knit ties for around $15.

I've got a box of ties and I've been hesitant to list them I listed a couple and haven't sold them but now you've got me curious to go and open up that box again and try listing them with a little more knowledge and terminology. this is an outstanding video that you've created for other resellers or consumers for that matter. so happy I stumbled across you. Thanks for this comment! Ties are just like anything else -- some move fast, some sit, most aren't worth much some are worth a lot etc etc. It's a lot more of a complex category than some give it credit for.

Horse Bit, referring to the linkage pattern. Similar to horse bit loafers.

There is not anything officially called Repp silk. Repp ties are designated by their horizontal stripes, they are woven on twill silk. They can be considered Jacquard since they are woven silk.

Well, listen -- I don't know who is the keeper of official fabric terms. But what I do know is when someone searches for a "Repp tie" on eBay, they are looking for the type of tie I describe here.

Thanks for noticing! I agree-I think having a great main photo is essential in this category. I’ve always felt like there is more scrolling and browsing with tie buyers so you want to be eye catching!

If we are being picky, no. I always think of foulard as a small repeating pattern but I believe when discussing foulard fabric it’s always a printed pattern whereas jacquards are woven patterns.

There are times I find one or two ties but more often than not it’s feast or famine: I’ll find none or I’ll find ten. If I’ve shopped a thrift store’s tie section/box, a lot of times I won’t look at it again until a month goes by.

How do you get the thrift smell out of your ties?

I haven’t had a problem with odors on ties from thrift stores. I don’t think they get the same disinfectant spray as other items. If ties smell musty and old, like they’ve been sitting in a warehouse I’ll keep them in a large garbage bag with damprid for a few weeks.

Thank you very much for this video! Exactly what I was looking for. I've always done flat lay and I'm just used to that, but realized very early the importance of a mannequin for suits, just never got around to buying one and had a few blazers kind of piling up. I've got a few nice vintage blazers that need to be listed, so this encourages me to do so, however I'm thinking finding the matching pants if I can hang onto them and wait it out a bit might significantly increase both the overall sale price and STR of the blazer. Thanks again!

Two piece suits definitely sell faster and for more money, but I wouldn’t be too confident in finding pants to match a jacket on separate trips at different stores.

I don’t think there is a way to export the listings like that but you can sort or filter the spreadsheet by category.

Hello Do you use gpts? I have about ten ideas and the first concerns SEO and automation. I don't know how to go about it and I would like to know if my ideas are good and feasible. My first idea for automation would be to have my Zik Analytic SEO software scan all my eBay listings, then automatically do keyword research and change all the keywords without my intervention. I tell ChatGPT about my ideas so he can tell me what he thinks, then correct me if the ideas aren't good, or so he can give me suggestions and explain how to create a GPT based on them. of my ideas and my goals. But his answers are very basic. So, can you tell me what you think? I have had some ideas for using AI APIs, but I would like to know what you think and if these ideas are feasible. Could you explain to me what I need to learn to achieve my goals? I would like to sell on marketplaces and do automation with no-code software. I understand that I need to learn how to use APIs, but watching tutorials, I am completely confused. I used the GPT-3 API in a Google Sheets module so I could do my queries directly in Google Sheets and get the results there. I thought I could ask GPT-4 to make great tutorials for me, or better yet, take the transcript of all the videos I watch and ask it to make great tutorials for beginners like me based on those, in depending on my goals. But these tutorials are as mediocre and hollow as those for free AI. Now that I see that I can use third party software APIs directly in a GPT, I wonder what the difference is. Could you give me examples so that I understand what I can do with one and what I cannot do with the other? Is there a directory of use cases, examples of using the API of this or that artificial intelligence, and the applications that can receive them, like Google Sheets? and I ask myself the same question for chrome extensions and gpts could you recommend a site where I could read use cases to understand what I could do with it? And finally, regarding combinations, as you can use APIs and at the same time combine GPTs, I wonder if it could replace automation software like Make. Anyway, thank you for your videos

Why roll them up if they just get unrolled in pictures. Why not take most pics, roll up, main pic, then you can pack for storage and shipping.

I don’t store them rolled, so this way works for me. I usually batch the tasks together: roll all the ties, photo all the ties, measure all the ties, bag and inventory them, then list. I can usually do ten an hour doing it that way.

I love your video on Repp ties but I do have a question. I have a Countess Mara tie that has blue stripes. One light colored stripe and a black stripe has texture to it but the other blue stripes are smooth and silky. Would this still be considered a repp tie. I sold another brand of a repp tie but all of it was textured so I could clearly figure out that it was a repp tie. Thank you. Keep the tie videos coming. I love them.

In that situation I like to mention that the tie has some repp silk so that I still get the repp keyword to work for me. I think it’s a fair debate either way on whether to call it a repp tie.

I don’t know of a way to wash silk ties other than possibly getting them dry cleaned. I usually don’t find odor to be a problem-perhaps they don’t get the same disinfectant spray as most clothing. I have had ties that just smell old or musty from bulk purchases. If there was an issue like that I would try to avoid buying the tie.

Great to hear! Thanks for leaving the comment. It definitely shows the power of certain keywords. Including the Repp keyword cuts out a huge swath of competition on those searches where the buyer knows what they are looking for.

Awesome video! Question......Have you ever ran into a iolani tie? They are known for their Hawaiian shirts. I found a vintage 60's hand painted iolani tie, but can't find any history on it. None listed, none sold. That I can see anyways

I’ve never come across one, that sounds pretty cool though. I have sold a couple of hand painted ties in the past, something like that might do well in a vintage clothing group.
