I have this, it used to be my favourite now it’s a favourite, I’m not sure if they reformulated it? I get clove, plum, incense and rose. it’s a very introspective scent to me, that speaks to experiences outside of normal life, like when you isolate to find yourself and the austerity and sweetness of that experience. That’s how it feels to me anyway.

Coco chanel seems times to me.

You said santal majuscule wasn't your favourite YET you got the strongest reaction when smelling it compared to the others! I think it might secretly be your favourite on a freudian level haha. If rose is one of your favourite notes, you should definitely get la fille de berlin. It's the most beautiful rose I have ever smelled.

I'm struggling to see where you're going in this description of this perfume, the naming of this perfume or direction of this house has nothing to do with imperialism. Then you gloss over the fact that it was created by a French perfumer, which surely must be at odds with your skewed take on this. Seems to me it's a path you are struggling with yourself snd projecting it on to this beautiful subject. What a shame.

Have you tried the extrait of Mohur yet? From what people say it’s apparently even better than the EDP

Wow I clearly don’t retain note listings very well. This was one of the first expensive bottles of perfume that I bought back in 2020 and maybe it’s just because I got it so early in my perfume collecting but I have never thought of this one as a rose oud fragrance. I like rose and I like oud but I have never liked rose oud combo’s. I’m gonna have to reassess my entire world outlook…on everything.

What an intriguing description! Mohur is one of my favourites too and the house is really well executed and consistent. I've heard from some folks in the industry that they are worried about the house's health because of all the attention taken away by influencer noise and oversaturation of the market. So it's good you shone another spotlight on a worthy brand. I need to dig up my extrait again, it does smell calibrated slightly differently but I don't recall mine being any longer lasting. Mohur is one of the few 'niche' rose-out scents that has a convincing natural oud note...not the usual cypriol/ synth oud smell so common in others.

I have the sample set and I agree they are very sophisticated and complex. Perhaps a bit too sophisticated and subtle for my amateur nose but I do appreciate them! Have you tried the extrait version?

Hermes always makes classy, statement fragrances ... that´s why i have more of 17 pieces from their line .. also havin´this in 100ml bottle .. this reminds me No.19 a lot with those green notes there (lot of people seeing a big similarity to Grey Flannel too)

Great to see you back Yve! I'm sure I've smelled Eau de Narcisse Bleu, but so far have only bought Eau d'orange vert to my collection. When you were describing the "green" hue of Narcisse Blue, and conveying that it doesn't impart a sequence of separate notes to you, but more of a mood, I immediately thought that with your love of music, it would be really interesting to hear your impression of what musical composition might relate most closely to that mood/feeling this (or any other fragrance for that matter) imparts for you. Welcome back Yve! The Hermes stores/ counters over here do not stock it anymore. They don't want to confirm if it was discontinued but they are definitely not bringing in anymore. I got my last bottle from a discounter too (only place to find it easily I guess).
