That is a great story. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy the fact that you can earn a living with your passion. I agree 100% about your description of analog vs. digital. We have come so far in 40 years of digital, but on the whole, I still prefer analog as well.

I have to tell you that your description of what you’re going through and what you’ve done and how you did it was absolutely amazing! Usually, I’m so sick of videos on and on that really the beginning in the end actually get muddy because you’ve lost attention! I never felt that listening to this video! You have a gift my friend and keep making videos! I’m a subscriber

Been into audio over 50 years, you’re right when medical issues arise a new component sure helps with the blues. Tried streaming and of course CD’s but I keep coming back to my vinyl, records I bought as a teenager still sound incredible. I only have about 600 albums but I’m happy. Great video. 🙏

@@1999zrx1100 600 Records is a solid collection and the old stuff always sounds the best doesn't it? A friend of mine kind of messed me up by saying, "You like old records you should listen to them on old stuff... " meaning old gear. I've never been the same. Happy Listening!

Nick, thanks for the video. I have a Marantz 2250B that I using last night and the right channel was not as loud as the left. I pushed several of the buttons on the unit until I rotated the tone control knob and the right channel was finally equal to the left. Sticky pot. Deoxit? I have not done this before so your video is extremely helpful. Finally, I had an issue with the balance slider and took it to a tech in Ashville NC who stated he had to bypass it because it was not functioning any longer. This has been my receiver since high school so it has not been abused, but he bypassed the slider so I am looking for a replacement on e-bay. Thanks again for the video. Dave

Nice video! Just a couple questions for you: 1) the service manual lists only 5 caps for the P800 board. C801, 802, 803, 804 and 805. You said 8 caps replaced. what are the other three? 2) It looks like you did not replace the ceramic cap at C801. any reason? Thanks!

Was the turntable completely non functional before recapping it? What were the symptoms? Or should these old stereo equipment be recapped simply because of the age? Beautiful piece btw, can't beat that vintage styling.
@thevinylheard7 ай бұрын
The speed was sporadic and even after it was dialed in, it needed monitoring. The thing about recapping the 6300 is that it's only like 7 caps and it's one board so it's not a huge job. Also no sound goes through the caps it's all about speed regulation so if your speed is rock solid, probably no need to recap. Thanks for watching.

Dust covers. Waste of time having. They are way more problems for what they are worth. I wish they made wooden ones . These things are impossible to NOT scratch in the first place.

The Dust Cover Hustle we call it... no... no we don't. But I understand your perspective. The Empire Troubadour had a wood and glass cover.

YES!! Someone finally picked King Gizz as the artist who released 25 albums in the same year ☺️🤘 Love all your picks, very similar taste in music. That Grace Jones album has sound that seems to pop out of nowhere, a ridiculously great sounding piece of wax, mixing on that album is off its head. Oh and listen to Ty Segalls cover of every 1s a winner, its killer

Bruh.. gotta get a power tool polisher (drill even works). You'll cut those scratches out with about 1 hour of mechanical polishing with your meguires.

For sure - this was more meant to be a quick fix and it's a good start. There are many solutions with a variety of grits and power polishers that can further the process. Thanks for the comment.

Dude is relentless. I got a message from another person the other day telling me this video stopped him from getting scammed so I guess it is still serving its purpose. I hope others can do the searching before sending him money. We are starting to see copy cat scammers in Colorado which is pretty frustrating.

This is my turntable I’ve had since I was a kid. I have it in service right now to fix my strobe light and whatever else might need repaired. But, they don’t do cosmetic repairs so when I get it home I’m going to follow whatever you guys are doing. Because the dust cover needs some polishing. And a little more cleaning of the wood and stainless steel.

@@thevinylheard I put $80.00 down. And total repairs are $290.00. So $210.00 total for everything. I forgot what he told me what he was fixing. But, it’s worth the money. Because I read these can be worth a lot of money these days.

Excellent job! Love the Blue Note run. You probably don’t want to read this but I got that Tool box set new and sealed for $55! Sometimes it’s best to wait for price drops on sets like these, makes me wonder what the 50th anniversary box set of DSOM will drop to. $300 is a lot for something many will already have, even multiple times. Parliament was my choice for the three great successive albums.
