I made this today. Although it's good, it's really sweet. I did add some cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, vanilla bean paste & some can milk to thin it out (pudding made it super thick).. I imagine you could start here & then go tradional by adding eggs, butter & other spices. 😊

You can omit it if you like, however don't knock it until you've tried it. It's next level. I never use to add it until I started experimenting with new recipes.

Exactly how my dad made them when I was growing up, when I was a kid I used ketchup, been using ranch for years now. Making these, fried cabbage and corn bread to go along with my beans tomorrow

I've never added onion powder and paprika to my potatoes but will definitely do so the next time I make them. I'm sure the additional seasonings really elevate this classic dish to another level.

It's good to try different approaches..U can warm potatoes in the Microwave for a min.. Sometimes I'll cook some Onions&Peppers first, then add the Potatoes& then the rest of the O&P..I might add a Splash of Hot Sauce& Ketchup or even Salsa..( they all taste good) with ur Eggs,Bacon or Steak..And then ur full for the day..

So nice, how did she get a nice brown color? Some people brown the flour. I like your method but did you use browning sauce to achieve the beautiful color? Thank you.

I can't tell you how happy i am to have found this video. My mom was from West Virginia so i grew up on fried taters. I never watched her cook them ..one of the few things she made that i absolutely could not replicate. No matter what i did they stuck horribly to the pan and never crisped up. NO ONE TOLD ME TO STEAM COOK THEM FIRST. I had no idea. I am making them right now and i am floored. Not one potato is sticking. And they are crisp! Its so simple but i dudnt know! Thank you so very much.
