In the 80's i have so many favorite singers and at 54 they're still so, in this era I can't say I have a favorite, we'll maybe R Kelly.

To me, Michael McDonald is The Voice. I've been listening since his days with Steely Dan. I feel lucky to have been around to hear that wonderful voice and music he created!

Jeff porcaro didn't play drums on this song, it was Rick moratta

It's amazing what Michael was doing during this period he basically had the fate of the whole group resting on his shoulders. Primed to start their new tour Tom Johnston was forced to leave the group due to health issues so they contacted McDonald about hopping in and hitting the tour. Can you even imagine the crushing amount of pressure this was to lay on the poor guy, but then look what happened he redefined the Doobies sound and recorded some of their most enduring songs. All credit that can and should be given is heaped on Michael McDonald.

I was listening to a cover version of Lowdown, then listened to the original version of the song and never realized how much work and layers went into recording the song and the especially the work that Jeff Pocaro put into this hit! Sure am glad I did!

Bought the 12 inch version on vinyl when I was a teenager when this song was released. Michael McDonald one of my favorite male singers. Hearing it back, hearing Patty LaBelle sing is like listening to music and someone is sticking a pencil into your eardrum when she starts singing...(I'l get my coat)
