It is a shame that this network no longer exists and the fact that Michigan J Frog was the mascot chosen to promote the network was a simply ingenious idea and a character like him is perfect for promoting a network like this

I lived in Jacksonville for a short time when the WB and UPN premiered. WBSG out of Brunswick, GA was the WB affiliate for the area. What sucked was WBSG's signal was not strong enough to reach the southern part of Jacksonville proper, the rest of the city got a weak signal at best. Thankfully we had WGN on cable at the time.

The idea was to have Bugs Bunny be the face of the channel. However, according to multiple books and essays, they said it wouldn’t look good to have a kid friendly icon like him be the face of what was considered a more adult channel. So Michigan J. Frog was chosen and history was made. I get what they’re saying and I’m glad Michigan was the mascot, but I don’t think it would’ve hurt Bugs either way. I think it was because Bugs was on those WB Family Entertainment icons before the start of their kids shows.

The WB would've been on TV for over 18 years!!! They started their network on January 11th, 1995!!! Happy 18th Anniversary to The WB!!! The WB will always live forever!!!

Actually here is a little History in The same year as Michigan j frog's second cartoon another froggy evening january 11th 1995 Warner bros officially made Michigan the mascot of the WB TV network, he went on all the way up to 2005 because for an attempt for the channel to appeal more than just a teen audience. however that plan didn't last long since the channel closed down on september 17th 2006 in favor of building a new channel with the CW. the last image show on the WB was a silhouette of the Frog giving us a bow.
