The fight between these two men was a matter of principle. They both represented ideas that could not fit into each other's world. One had to go. However, on a personal level, they respected each other. They probably would have made great allies in another lifetime.

Question. Who do we think would win in a fight to the death between Crassus and Crixus. Give Crassus two swords and Crixus a sword + shield. No interruptions, no reinforcements for either side

It would be close, but my money is on Crixus. Crassus is definitely smarter than Crixus and there is an argument to be made that the disarm trick might work on him, but I always viewed Spartacus and Crixus as true equals. I think the only reason Crassus even gave Spartacus a hard time in this 1v1 is because Spartacus was exhausted. Dude literally ran into battle, no horse, stayed on the front lines giving orders and just soloed the 10-20 ish guards protecting Crassus, while Crassus caught his breath. Crixus has the skill and instinct for battle and it makes me think he also wouldn't fall for this trick. I could be wrong though.

@@TheSecularMinority a fair answer. I’m pretty sure Spartacus and gannicus take him down easily. Crixus would be an interesting match. An Onamaeus in his prime takes Crassus and his guards with one hand whilst relieving himself with the other
