Wow! Amazing breakdown of how damage works in this game. There's so much info out there it's hard to know who to listen to, but this video did a great job at breaking it down from the ground up! Really puts into perspective a lot of the discourse at launch about 43311 vs 44111 (and occasionally 3333) with how people didn't consider which weapon a character uses, and how I've seen sources rank Jinhsi's 43311 ELE-ATK and ATK-ATK 3 costs higher than her ELE-ELE pairing, I suppose due to how her signature gives her a lot of DMG%.

Thanks for the video. I am playing HSR because of Sushang. So far, I manage to clear Moc with full star with hypercarry Sushang. But this MoC 2.2.2 , my crit Sushang/FX/RM/SW team failed. So I want to try to use BE Sushang/E1S0 RM 160 speed/Harmony MC 160 speed/ FX (Sushang using Herta LC since I dont have Boothill LC). Once in a while, Sushang can hit 200 speed (but rarely stay in that range). With my standard crit Sushang, she usually does 90k skill when breaking the enemy/ 100+ ulti/ 100+ skill (nearly 400k combo). But with BE Sushang, she does 20k skill. After 8 cycle, she still cant kill Argenti! Must Sushang get Boothill LC (for more BE and constant 12% speed)?

No. JIANXIN wants ATK, and YUANWU wants DEF. Yuanwu's usage is for off-field DMG and Break(think Ruan Mei). The upgraded version of the yuanwu, jianxin and mortefi team is , Calcharo, Yinlin and Jianxin.

Oh man, I love it when CCs trying to establish the "rules" of an upcoming Gacha-game, only for them to be completely wrong 6-7 months into the game and the community is coming to a mutual understanding what characters serve which role the easiest (not the best, mind you, because this is exactly the point).

No rules. DPS, Sub-DPS and Support are terms per established. People are confused because people are making up their own terms when conveying information.

@@_JrVerse Okay, guess the quote/un-quote "rules"-part wasn't to obvious. And you didn't read what I wrote - Yes, the terms are mostly established, but only in that sense that we're talking about well known Gacha's in the west and we people mostly all use the same terms here. There are exceptions, though. But that's beside the point anyways. The point is that different characters will turn out differently and fit certain roles better other than your "insert favorite CC here" try to tell you.

I did read your comment... I believe you are still misinterpreting mine. Regardless of how characters develop or regardless of the game. There are classifications, and we make those classes broad enough to support character development but are still able to deliver understandable information. As a community, we should get on one page so as not to misunderstand each other. DPS, Sub- DPS and Support is not something I made up.

@@_JrVerse Yes, the terms we agree on, partially anyways. I think there always have to be room for more nuanced changes. What we don't agree on is the "character xyz is role abc" simply because more often than not CCs are utterly wrong; all I'm saying.

I thought that should be pretty self explanatory tbh, if a character can do DPS outside of combat in any way, that means they can be used as a Sub DPS, you can use them for something else, but doesn't change the fact they can be used like that, or that a character's kit doesn't focus on that too. You can argue about other means of damaging but you can't just say "Oh Character does damage with X and Y so it is a DPS, doesn't mather if it heals or amplifies damage or if the class itself says "Support", it's DPS because i say so!"

I feel like people are confused because they're calling it DPS and not Main DPS. Main DPS are the characters who are the MAIN source of damage, they don't do much else. SUB-DPS are the characters who deal damage either in the main DPS's downtime, or off-field, as well as sometimes they have some support capabilities, they're job is to compliment the main DPS with damage. and supports are obviously healers and buffers. I think the best example of a sub dps I can think of is Fischl from Genshin, she is a DPS, but not a main one, all you do is put the bird down and switch off of her, but she deals great damage, electro application, and particle generation, all from off field.

People can call it what they want. You can't demand people use a uniform term that YOU think is applicable for a certain type of genre. If we really played by this logic, there should be sub-types of DPS such as DOTs or Nukers, and they're not called "one-shotters". I don't use the term, but I see how it makes sense. The world doesn't have the responsibility of conforming to your own standards. Just because you're in a small room with people who think the same as you means that you represent a majourity of the population. You don't have the authority to dictate what is a valid and invalid term. Only the developers/publishers do. So if anything, the non-sense here is this video. Let people call it what they want. If it's confusing, then allow them to explain, not make them feel inferior for it.

I agree. People can call it whatever they want. People shouldn't complain when there are misunderstandings. The terms are simplified and do not devalue other terms. The point is People are arguing for their terms to supercede general classifications.

@@_JrVerse There is more confusion by lumping burst dps and off-field dps in the same slot of Sub instead of being their own thing. Off-field dps/support tells people exactly the base of their kit is while Sub dps does not.

@khulmach9662 The more lables anything has, the higher the chance of confusion. Your statement is correct for people looking for advanced levels of knowledge. As a baseline simplification DPS only X, Sub-DPS can X or Y and supports are better at Y.

I'm seeing it all the time. However, Meta doesn't matter when it come to terms...it just a way to try and understand a Characters kit. You can have a team full of "Sub-DPS" Characters.

Sub-dps = off field damage, damage buffs, less dmg than 'main dps'. I think the word sub-dps still works for a lot of characters, but I agree that in this game a lot of characters need too much on-field time to be considered a conventional sub-dps like in Genshin.

@Stella-fk4jj My problem is the usage of Sub. To most, it can cause confusion and the second problem is that it is used very vaguely. Off field fits better. They dont stand in for the main dps to do dmg on their downtime. They bring their own in addition to what the regular dps does on his turn.

@@hentikirby7142 I feel like your point, and mine, both states that it exactly is sub-dps. Not an off-field dps. Because out of 8-ish characters that fit the sub-dps class better than main dps, only 2 of them have off-field damage, those being Yinlin and Mortifi. The reason they are sub-dps, rather than off-field which most of them cant be, is because their dmg is lower than a main dps, and they provide buffs in their outro skill and stuff.

@Stella-fk4jj then they are buffers. They buff. If they are used in place of the dps during their downtime/reseting, then its sub-dps. Even if they do good dmg on field, if the main use case is to get the buff then they are buffers.
