@@TractorsandCream We launch next year but we are thinking of upselling breakfast. We have a small farm and can provide eggs, local bagels, butter, honey from our bees. We also are thinking of giving a small jar of honey as a welcome gift. Anther thought is providing enough firewood for a fire but charging for more wood? We make skin care products with our beeswax so maybe could sell those? Also interested in providing those extras you mentioned for special occasions. Lots to think about! We will only have one glamp site on our property for one or two adults.

I only charge £5 for extra box’s of logs, I offer to light the hot tub before arrival for free. I don’t want to feel like I’m trying to charge people for everything all the time. I believe it’s included in the price of the stay. Also helps towards 5* reviews when people think they have had a good deal. Should I be charging more though??
@TractorsandCreamАй бұрын
@@conkers126 thanks so much for leaving a comment. We also only charge £5 for a large basket of logs which we haven't put up the price of since we started even though our supplier price has gone up drastically. I would rather people were warm and had a good experience than wanting to not buy them. The hot tub lighting I think depends on your nightly rate, if you've made it a bit higher to factor your time to and the logs to light it then I think guests prefer it built in. I know sites that charge £15 for hot tub pre-light service and ones that just leave the hot tub empty for guests on arrival so it's whatever sits right with you. Do you find it stressful and annoying having to sort the hot tub out or is it just all part of your processes? If it's the former then it might be time to start charging. I also wanted to get us thinking about what added extras we can all do to make a bit more profit. Do you do any hampers or anything? Thanks so much, Vicki
@conkers126Ай бұрын
@@TractorsandCream Hi Vicki, it’s good to know we charge similar for logs, my box’s of logs are a 35l storage box (so it can be left outside and still keep the wood dry) that includes a bit of kindling and fire lighters in the box too. I empty clean and refill the hot tub when doing the changeover, I don’t mention anything about hot tub lighting service on the website, I would just privately message them on day of arrival and offer to do it an hour before they arrive if it suits with my schedule for that day. Or if I’m too busy I don’t offer. I find that some people really appreciate it being done and some people love to do it themselves so it’s about 50/50 wether I end up doing it. We dont currently offer any kind of hamper but definitely something to think about. We leave 2 small bottles of local cider with a box of local biscuits complimentary for their arrival that is all included with the nightly rate. It’s good to hear from other hosts that have good ideas on improving how we all do things
@TractorsandCream29 күн бұрын
@@conkers126 ah ok that makes sense, so it isn't too onerous if you don't have the time. That's a really good way of working it. Yes hampers are definitely one to think about, although I know I will get stressed next summer when I run out of stock for the s'mores hamper and have to dash to the shops! 🙈

When the dome is complete and on a flat deck, how do you keep the water from coming underneath the tarp? Or the dome is supposed to be on a separate platform to raise it?
@TractorsandCreamАй бұрын
@@claytonlamyuen116 That's why we always build ours on a round base so that the cover hangs over and the water runs off. Hi, thanks for sharing. What about the initial investment? Land, tents etc.. Also, do you not have to pay any business rates, VAT? Surely there is more to your overhead? Cheers
@TractorsandCream2 ай бұрын
@@Rosstino1 Hi, great points. So yes we had an initial investment to buy our house which has the land attached. I think we are all in for about £150,000 for the structures and all the infrastructure but we've done this really gradually, investing each year as we had the funds. At the moment we qualify for 100% small business rate relief and our turnover is under the VAT threshold so luckily we don't have to worry about that for now!
