think its possible to replace the speedometer side bearing without touching the chain case?
@thethriftysnowmobiler980113 күн бұрын
Anything is possible. Except for slamming a revolving door. I can't remember how that bearing goes on but you can check out Arctic cat parts nation they have exploded diagrams that you can look at. If I'm remembering correctly there are 3 bolts and the bearing slips over the end of the shaft.

Thats super smart. I wonder if that would be more or less the cost of a ramp?
@thethriftysnowmobiler98012 ай бұрын
Honestly I think a ramp would be more efficient. It worked but was kinda hard to manage but it was definitely a lot cheaper than a ramp

how do you know that it isnt flowing? the tank just staying full when running or?
@thethriftysnowmobiler98015 ай бұрын
Tank had no oil in it. It's been a while since I messed with it. There is a screw in the top end that you can back out and it should seep oil. If not then there is an oil flow issue

What would make oil blow out of my crankcase vent hose on a 660 raptor
@thethriftysnowmobiler980110 ай бұрын
Sounds like you have compression glasses getting into the case. I have the same issue right now. The sleeve that the piston rides in in cheaper cylinders can drop by millimeters and that's all she wrote. I put a niche cylinder I and it was a bad idea but it was my only option to keep riding at that time but it caused so many problems. Blew apart my coolant reservoir tank. Blew out my seals. Had oil blowing out my case breather. Blew apart radiator hose. Took me a long time to figure out that's what it was I just havn't had time to fix it yet. I'm actually getting ready to tear it completely down and rebuild it split the case and all I might do a video on it

I'm not sure what you are asking? I don't believe I go over how to set the timing because there are an abundance of videos on the matter if that's what you're asking. I am actually about to tear it down and rebuild it. I can do a video on timing but it won't be for a while.

Dude this is happening to me..I replaced the one way and I kept the OEM flywheel. I also tried to keep to keep it at tdc. Now I have shitty spark! You confirmed it thanks
@thethriftysnowmobiler9801 Жыл бұрын
One thing I also did to keep it from shearing flywheel keys because the end of the crank shaft is marred up I used a grinding compound to try and reset it but it still kept shearing flywheel keys. I put red loctite on the crank itself and that gave enough of a bond to stop shearing the keyways.

I have a 2006 yamaha rhino 660 im getting spark nice white spark but it won't run what could be the problem?
@thethriftysnowmobiler9801 Жыл бұрын
Could be a dirty carburetor. Possibly a stuck needle valve. If you're getting spark and good compression fuel would be where I would start. Likely a carb rebuild would be a good start.

Dude I literally just bought a raptor that had the same issue. It didn't brake the timing chain but all the starter clutch bolts broke and were in the bottom of the motor. I fixed it put it back together and it won't start now. It fires once but that's it, so I got some more investigating to do
@thethriftysnowmobiler9801 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's definitely worth the trouble for sure. I can't believe I found 9. It makes it impossible to know how many were in there to start with. Some people just shouldn't work on stuff. It would have been easier to track if the original owner would have searched for them rather than just replacing it and closing it up. I figure they had to have done that at least twice

Listen when I think of vintage I think of 50s and 60s however vintage is older than 20 years so a 2003 would be considered vintage. hahaha. I actually just picked up an MXZ and a Yamaha triple. Still waiting on a bill of sale from the owner to complete the transfer. They were abandoned at my neighbors 20 years ago and he has to get some sort of proof of ownership from law enforcement.

So does a non resident have to go into a physical location to get the registration process?? I understand trail permits can be bought on line but what about registration??
@thethriftysnowmobiler98012 жыл бұрын
I do believe it is supposed to be registered in the state you live in. However if you live in Florida and bring a sled to Michigan to ride obviously nowhere to ride in Florida. Not sure Florida would register a snowmobile but I could be wrong. That is a good question. I will ask around
@thethriftysnowmobiler98012 жыл бұрын
A direct quote from Michigan DNR website "If a snowmobile is sold to another person, the registration also must be transferred through the SOS. Nonresidents must display a valid registration from the operator's home state or province or be registered in Michigan." I hope that helps

@thethriftysnowmobiler98012 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the drive shaft isn't fully seated into one or both of the bearings or that the bearing isn't fully seated into either the case or on the belt side.
@Dubsspeed2 жыл бұрын
No need to even have it running and chancing engine damage. Just pull the top cam cover and pour a small amount of oil into the top side for some lube. Disconnect the ignition coil from spark plug so no start. Crack the return line from motor while cranking. Then crack it at the top of the tank then just leave the oil cap off and crank a few seconds. If not then it's simply just u got shit blocking a line or oil port or the oil pump is ceased. Probably ceased pump

On my ski doo mx formula i took the rubber parts out, put in some wd-40 on the nut then heat them for 10second, put in more oil, heat again 10 second for each to get the nice and toasty but not hot enough to melt the plastic with broke the rust, got the oil between and caused the tread locker compound to fail. This way i only broke one tread i need to repair.

I'm doing the same on my 1996 skidoo 377 e touring. Rather than inserting new material I plan to just weld the split/crack inside and outside. Then grind the outside smooth again. Yeh it beats buying skis.

I got a 02 grizzley 660. Long story short. The starter relay stuck I think and it melted and almost caught fire. Ever since it won’t start. Replaced carb, coil, starter relay, checked timing. Timing looks good. It tries to backfire but won’t even start and run for a second even using starting fluid. Untapped harness and inspected. I’m thinking cdi box next??
@thethriftysnowmobiler98012 жыл бұрын
In my opinion CDI should be last thing to try. Check for spark. If you have Spark or inconsistent spark then I would pull the flywheel and look at the woodruff key. Sometimes when having issues like that the woodruff key gets broken, misaligning the flywheel and causing an ignition issue

Maybe i missed it but how do you torque down the nut on your bolt wont it just spin since you cant get a wrench on it.
@thethriftysnowmobiler98013 жыл бұрын
I just used a regular bolt. It has been a while not since I did this repair but If I remember correctly there are two plastic ribs on either side of the bolt that held the bolt from spinning. Also could stick a flat head screw driver between the bolt and the plastic rib and twist to keep the bolt in place while turning the nut with a ratchet. All in all it only took me about 10 minutes to fix
