Man i love fighting games, and im trying to learn rivals but like having 0 tutorials in game, no combo trials, no movement drills, youtube videos come with zero input notation and expect you to know a lot. Like i know its an indie game and the kickstarter goals. But i literaly have no tools to learn, all ranked players are better than me, so like every other newcomer it's either powerthrough or drop it. And it looks like everyone has dropped it so sadly i'll do the same

Really great video! I loved your point on small goals because I didn’t realize goals could be as simple as “land this kill confirm”. I’m going to start applying this for learning Rivals.

Is the shield turn around tech still viable with the shield nerfs? 15 frames seems like a lot

Good stuff man! I feel like this could apply to growth in pretty much anything you want to be good at, not just games. I found myself applying it to music: 1. Remember to have fun (it's something you love, right?) 2. Be Confident in yourself (you know what good music is and you have the potential to make it) 3. Find specific things you want to improve on (not "this mixdown sucks" but "i need to work on EQ and compression") 4. Take accountability for not practicing what you need to or as much as you should (you're playing rivals and commenting on youtube videos when you could be in ableton) 5. Be realistic and set small goals (all the greats worked for years before they released anything good. Make some sounds and drum patterns that you like, then finish a track, then an EP, etc.) awesome video

would you consider giving commentary to our matches if we submit them? Watching my own VoDs with the Experimental setting has been helpful.... but as a new player, me critiquing my own game play is like if I had to take and proctor my own driving test; without the right pair of eyes it's harder to find out why I keep crashing.

3:38 is there a difference between doing this and releasing ledge double jump wavedash on stage ?

As far as I know, there is no difference. I just thought this was an easier method for people starting out

This reminds me of tekken neutral theory. Where: keep out beats aggression, whiff punish beats keep-out, and aggression/overextension beats whiff. Good video

funny enough the 2 fighting games i play the most right now are Rivals 2 and Tekken 8

wanna add to the shield dropping section, in rivals 2 shield dropping is alot easier than in melee or PM, and there are more ways to do it too. insteady of only having tilt down you can also do it by holding 2 shield buttons and tapping down, or releasing shield and cancelling the dropping shield animation into a shield drop [confusing wording lmao]
@IamSafehead
@IamSafehead Ай бұрын
I had no idea you could hold both shield buttons to shield drop! Makes it so much more consistent
@hughmungus99

you can also do diagonally down either left or right or hold down prior to holding shield and then just let go of the shield button

Damn I've got a pretty good grasp on the game and this still helped me a LOT, you're very good on putting the importance of techniques and mentality into words, keep up the good work 💪💪

So how do people do it tho? I feel like I’m going insane because I fail half the time, and in a game it just gets you killed. Idk I’m not like bad at the game I just have no idea how people skate like that, I feel like I’m missing something

its practice, thats all it takes, repetition is key
@IamSafehead
@IamSafehead Ай бұрын
If youre talking about executing it, its just repetition. Using it in a match, think about what youre trying to do and add movement to it. Got a new vid out on it and hopefully that helps
