🎉🎉🎉 happy every day comper the dd2? any advice ???i have the happy every day.i dont want to spend my money 💰
@greenroomsurfreviews7 күн бұрын
I’ve surfed both and I found them to be similar but not exact. Per their stock dimensions, the dd2 has a little bit more volume than the HE at the same height. DD2 specializes in beach break and according to the CI website has a more limited range in terms of size, types of waves surfed, and type of surfing. If you’re enjoying the HE I would stick with it but if it’s not really cutting it for you, you could give the dd2 a go. What types of waves are you surfing in a regular basis?

I’m addicted to this board. My normal HPSB is an I72 with 28L. I found a good deal for a new fishbeard in spinetek 5,9 30,2L. First toughts was… maybe this is too much volume for me (1,80m 68kg), but man this is a true HP twinnie, easy to surf and she delivers speed AF. The single concave to flat tail makes magic. Easy to put on rail and complete turns. For those who are afraid to go up on volume (max 2L above your HPSB) don’t hesitate. Riding the AMK KEELS. I got a new love😂

Despite all the bad press about terrible customer support and a product that just doesn’t perform, people are still willing to throw down $1,200+ in the hopes that this time will be different. Although I think it was designed for small range most people including myself like it in 3+’ surf. I think there are other boards that are better designed for bigger waves but for an all arounder this one does it.

Can I ask what size you went with relative to your height and weight? I have read people opting to go smaller, like 4" below their height, but I usually ride a 6ft 1 and I am 5ft 10, 176lbs, so buying a 5ft 6 doesn't really make sense to me. Thanks.

@sebbeasant1868 yeah great question!! Lots of opinions on how to choose dimensions - here’s what has worked best for us 🫣 we like to stick to the shaper’s proportions and if we find our preferred volume, that gets us to the right board (or close). hey charleshawk6668!! we’ve found what benefits beginners most, is time in the water and repetition. Even though the G-Skate was designed for the average+ surfer, if it gets you in the ocean more, then the short answer is yes! That being said, we think you can get more value and skill progression (faster) with other board choices out there. A Costco Foamie or MF Softboard will increase your wave count and you will get use out of them year after year (PU boards yellow and break down faster). 7/4-6: I travel to the Wedge (Newport, CA) to get pounded by a southwest swell, but I can't film myself since my camera isn't working and is still with SS. 6/22: SS receives the camera. 6/18: After attempting to remote troubleshoot with the SS rep, and me sending them video of doing what they asked for, I was asked to send the unit back. 6/10: New issue: camera tilts down and just doesn't function. I contacted SS by email and received a response the next day (great service in that respect). 1/22: Received slip that looks like my camera is at the post office. 1/9/2024: On 12/1/23, I sent an email to support because my tag wasn't working, nor charging. I found out, on my own, that I needed to discharge the camera battery so that the camera needed charging. Only then would the tag charge. However, it took 26 days for an email reply to this tag issue. However, the rep asked if I had any other issues and I was able to share an issue that just came up a couple days prior. So, this next issue could be considered a 2-day response. On 12/27, I was notified I had to send my camera in due to issue #2. I sent my camera back on 12/27/23 and am currently waiting for it to return.

@greenroomsurfreviews5 ай бұрын
Hey @kstrophs85!! Good on yah for picking a sport that will spend all your money for the rest of your life! 😭 🙌🏼 A few things we learned about the DD2 - opt for Spine-Tek/XTR, size down an inch in length from your normal groveler, and get it in steeper/better waves. (hard to recommend exact dims without knowing weight). And we know recommendation #3 might also be tough given your local. The DD2 is all the rage right now and can definitely work, but there might be better options out there. If you’re sticking in the CI family, check out the G-Skate, Rocket Wide, and POD Mod. We bet you can pick one up second hand (or all three) to find what you like/don’t like. Beginner shortboarding is all about repetition. Sounds like you’re prioritizing the right things (HV grovelers and Mid-lengths), keep that same logic as you transition shorter! But keep in mind we’re just some average surf dads on the interwebs 😂🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Thank you for your review. I had 2 original Dumpster Divers and a I had high expectations for this model. It is not as fat as the original one, and your comment that it looks more like a Sampler, it’s spot on. I surfed it In all round mush to 6 foot plus in the Maldives, and the extra volume on the front foot made it, a wonderful, forgiving, magic board. The best Dane Reynolds years were on this board(way before he was also a surf dad). I do believe that this model in spinetek/xtr (which wasn’t available back then) might be the best choice (although very expensive)- It’s good to hear honest reviews on the web. Keep going!

@damienphelan6665 ай бұрын
Good review guys. Although I really liked the Sampler, coming from that board to the DD2 was a whole new level and a different board. The manoeuvrability of the DD2 is way better. This is my favourite board now of all time and the best board I have ever surfed, better than the org DD, Sampler, org Neckbeard/Neckbeard 2 etc. I've been surfing it for the last 4+ months. It's true CI widened the nose and tail but they reduced the overall width so it is relative and has a straighter outline with more rocker than the org DD and more single concave with a flat deck. There is an adjustment factor which took me about 3 surfs to get use to for this board. Fins are definitely important (I agree with @spiffjiff05) and I found after trying quite a few that normally the Hayden Shapes HS2 (medium) pivot fins so far to be the best unless it is fast/steep. Futures have stopped making these fins but you can still find them in shops or 2nd hand or try other pivot fins that are based on your weight (don't go too big in fins either for this board). The AM fins (AM2 and AM1) I found were too tight and even with the smaller centre fin they are too raked (so wouldn't recommend the Dane fins either which are nearly the same thing and even Neutral fins seem too raked for this board). I'm going to try the Tokoro fins next which have a 9 degree cant angle instead of the normal 6.5 and these might be good also but on bigger days when the HS fins are too fast/pivoty. In terms of size you could choose a board close to your normal volume but you could go a bit shorter on this board, for me I'll probably get another one for Aussie summer time later in the year prob around 5'7, I currently have a 5'8 which is my winter board for when I wear a wetsuit). Awesome board.

I got a custom 6'0 in xtr that i took to waco and surf locally in Orange County and been really liking it. I could see how it would feel more like a HPSB in dims closer to your height and in PU. DD2 has replaced my gremlin and is now my daily for home. Hopefully you guys can try different fins as might feel a little tight with raked fins.
