PICK YOUR FIGHTS. LEE AND LONGSTREET HAD TO KNOW THAT WAS NOT THE PLACE NOR THE TIME!

I can’t even fathom what that men must’ve felt. A loss beyond words that was entirely unnecessary and preventable if Lee hadn’t pressed the attack.

I also take this as karma for Pickett nearly starting a war with the British empire before the war.

Another great one by Chuck. Mostly unknown compared to his major hits. Not too easy to find either.

"No! Not both of us! Not all of us! Please, God!" The absolute anguish in his voice is all it took to bring me to tears. And to know there are people who might actually want another civil war... whoever they are, each of them is either a heartless monster or an ignorant half wit. No one but either of those would want their countrymen to experience this kind of heartbreak and pain.

I really enjoy watching when the confederate infantry begins to come out of the tree line and form up to begin Pickett's charge!! I really like the drums playing as they form into their various units!!! I'm sure the actual participants in the assault were just as brave and fearless as portrayed in the movie!!!

General longstreet suggested Trench warfare to General Lee, but Lee wanted to take the fight to the Union. Big mistake, maybe he felt their was no other real choice. I don't think he wanted the war to continue.

Lee was wrong to have allowed his army to engage with the federals in the first place, but once he committed himself he had precious little choice other than to fight it out. Disengaging and trying to march around the federal position was never a realistic option.

The Confederates got a taste of their own medicine. This was the turning point of the war. From this Battle to the end of the war the Union would be on Offense and the Confederates on Defense.
@Batou3Ай бұрын
They had always been on defense in a sense. They were always outmanned and outgunned. All they could really do was hold off the union until they tired of fighting or till foreign powers intervened.
