What a cool railway! It would gain with other lighting though, for instance a led tube with daylight effect. I use an IKEA floorlamp with daylight LED lamp in it.

@@Northerner_Transport_Hub yeh it was a great layout, but needed the space and the little one started to play with it and bits kept breaking so sold it while it was in good shape. Definitely think a bigger layout is on the cards for next year

They were electric lights, run by the steam generator, mounted on the offside running plate under the smokebox, many LNER and some Southern locos had this feature..

What an experience, a footplate ride on a steam locomotive, you can sense the power in the machine wanting to be unleashed, i had a footplate experience on an ex New Zealand Railways Ka Class 4-8-4 in 1992 on the mainline, an experience i'll never forget.

Lovely to see, 5 coaches and a great big steam engine. Lights on at the station, all lends to the atmosphere. A lot of happy parents and kids im sure.

I’m impressed with your layout with 1st radius curve as this is not only perfect for your tank engine and diesel shunter centric, but perfect to have in a small space if there not enough room to have a huge layout in either 6x4 or 8x4 layouts.
