My starter makes a click then a whoosh sound, not multiple clicks , new battery , just curious of you had the same problem with your starter or know what is happening to mine
@projectfixit3 күн бұрын
@@ShawnBadger-r5x For this car, the starter solenoid would not engage, but only make a clicking sound. Tapping the starter with a hammer Wouk knock sensor into it, but only temporarily. The whooshing sound you describe makes me believe the starter is spinning, but possibly not extending its pinion out to engage the flywheel on the engine. Most likely it’s an internal issue with your starter.

Thanks! Your video was a huge help. You got me through the hiding bracket (third) bolt. I did not drain the radiator, I did not remove the tensioner pulley or remove the thermostat housing. I did disconnect the two radiator hoses, just spilled a bit and turned em up.The paper towel trick with the sockets and bolts was new to me, thank you for that, I used it today and will use it again. Swapping this alternator out was so much fun that I think I would rather just pull the entire engine if I ever have to do it again. The wiring looms and the multiple sensors all over the engine and on every single item in the engine bay really just makes me frustrated with Toyota. Not to mention all the plastic shrouds and body clips and the busted 10mL bolts that I had to drill out of the frame before putting it all back together, and not having any space anywhere, but thats par for the course. I have owned this 200,000 mile 2011 Highlander since 60,000 miles. I guess the fact that this original alternator made it to 200,000 miles before needing to be replaced speaks to why I deal with the modern Toyota frustrations. I can change the alternator on my 225 slant six in 20 minutes, and that 1980 Dodge Sedan gets similar mileage to this 2011 Highlander. It was below freezing where I worked outside all day today too. LOL. Oh well, I'm done with the job and I'm done whining. Thanks again for the help. Glad to have it.

I’m starting to think this issue has to do with the replacement battery. I hear the original battery was a 27F and what we get today is a 24F replacement. My issues only started after I replaced the new battery which was maybe two years ago for a 2015 tundra 1794. Duralast gold cca 750 / 930 ca. So I have went through two of these batteries in the last two years. I never had this issue until late 2022 when I replace the original battery. I am going to check the coolant temp sensor before replacing another battery and checking.

My take and successfully completed the descale: DESCALE Clean: -water container; -removable plastic K-pod holder; -all areas of the coffee needle. -Use toothpicks/bottle brush to clean the 3 holes in the sharp needle. Rinse and wipe to dry all areas. -wash drip catching tray. Fill the container with Half Water & Half Vinegar. Place it back in its holder. Place the clean drip tray back at the bottom. In this order: Close the Lid to the K-cup area. Plug-in coffee maker (in this order). Hold 8oz and 12oz buttons at the same time (3 seconds). Place a large bowl or mug where you’d catch the coffee. Press flashing K (centre button). Once it stops releasing water, do it again, by pressing the K repeatedly until the container of water (reservoir) is completely empty. Add water light will flash and you will fill the reservoir again with just cold water. Continue pressing the flashing K until the reservoir has emptied a second time. Complete.
