What about if you have only been an icu nurse at a level 4 and now interview at a level 1 hospital. Will they be considerate that there are things you don't know?

I know this video is old but I just received my first RN offer in the CVICU. They asked me the blood flow through the heart and 1 question about cardiogenic shock. I didn’t mention CRNA though😂😂 but they did ask me my 5 year goal. Thank you so much.

There is not a shortage of bedside nurses! there’s a shortage of nurses who like being abused. We need to radically change the system, reduce burnout and overload, increase staffing, quotas, and requirements, decrease nurse to patient ratios. Speaking from Florida’s perspective, at least

Could you make a video the focuses on general nursing questions they might ask us along with general ICU questions? Thank you for already going over things we need to be familiar with for an ICU interview.

Can you provide advice for an RN returning to the bedside after 3 years off? I have two years of Med Surg from 2015 to 2017 and 4 months in PCU. I worked a temp job in PCU during the pandemic. I really don't want to get stuck in M/S. I do have gaps in employment but I took time off for school and family things. Anyway, my long-term goal is AGAC-NP. What can I do to get back on track so I can succeed in my career goals?

hey! thank you for this video! i have a question: i just got accepted into a great school that basically gave me a full ride, but the only downside is that they do not have an undergraduate nursing (bsn) program. the closest thing they have is a pre-nursing major, which would be me obtaining a bachelors in pre nursing, and THEN i'd have to do the two yrs of nursing school on top of that, which would take six years instead of four. this institution has other science majors, with the main one kinesiology. kinesiology obviously is different and more broad than nursing due to the fact that it focuses on movements of the entire body. i am able to major in kinesiology with a concentration in allied health, and nursing is under the umbrella of AH. and according to the schools website, getting a major in kinesiology w/a concentration in allied health is good if you want to go into nursing, physical therapy, etc. however, i've also heard from other ppl that getting this type of major would be completely adverse and irrelevant to a career in nursing. another option would be for me to major in biology, and ik in the video u said that there are schools that would accept someone with a biology degree. however, u left a note saying that they still have to be an RN first, which would require them taking an accelerated bsn-rn program, which would add an extra year. i'm honestly stuck rn bc i want to obtain my degree within a four year span and still go on the nurse anesthesia track bc i really love it. but this college is the only one offering me a full ride and i'm trying to save a lot for my future doctorate program, so it would be a financial plus. it also helps that this college is quite prestigious. however, it just sucks that they do not have an undergraduate bsn program and that i have to find all of these loopholes in order to do what i want. what advice would u give kaylana? would u recommend me sticking with this institution or would it be better for me to go to the other schools that have bsn programs, but have offered me significantly less and could potentially cause a financial hole?

I’m going into my second semester of FNP school and I’m not sure it’s what I want . I’ve been a critical care nurse for 6 years and have my MSN in education . I currently work in aesthetics now and it’s okay but the money is not the best if you’re not a spa owner. I’m trying to get into the OR right now. I do think I would love CRNA, so I’m going to shadow before taking that path. I also do think nurses should have at least 4 years as a nurse before pursuing NP. One year of nursing is not enough !! It’s so scary how healthcare is changing and making those minimum requirements .

This is my issue, it’s not more money. At the 3 major health systems in and around Philadelphia, floor nurses make more than their bosses. I have worked in all the city’s ICUs. My best friend got his Masters, he’s a clin spec, and some of the people that were in his program came back to the floor just because they had to take pay cuts as advanced practitioners. I now work with the highest paid floor nurses in the city. I have a friend who just finished his Masters and joined the education department and he has the same issue. Unless your running a hospital or in that circle of administration.

Omg, I love your story. I am currently an OR circulator looking to switch to ICU. We share a similar story. I feel I won’t qualify due to my race. However I have lots of coworkers in anesthesia that is rooting for me and constantly encourage me to make that transition. Omg 😢 your story gave me chills. Thank you for sharing. Please keep us updated. I would love to know more about your journey. 😊

Hi Nurse Kayla! What would you recommend me to do. I am currently working as a clinical research coordinator. I am looking to grow in the clinical research world, but to do so that requires a bachelor. I currently have nothing but HS and I want to go into Nursing school. I’m not sure where to start. Should I start with an associate? The majority of the jobs I look into requires a BSN. I have a full time job and I really don’t know how to start on the BSN

I interviewed at the ICU for clinical tech (pre-cna before starting cna school). Your tips gave me some ideas of what the DoN might ask me for my job, such as management of difficult patients or situations. I also watched cna skills videos so when I shadowed, I was able to help the actual CNA with a patient. Anyway, I got the job! Thank you so much for your generous and excellent advice!

Hi! I am currently in my last 9 weeks of nursing school and I have been thinking about my end goal. I am currently taking BSN courses, but once I complete my bachelor’s I don’t know where I would start. I know that I would like to go further and possibly become a NP. I honestly don’t know which specialty I would want. Thank you for the helpful information and good luck in CRNA school. You got this!!
