4” paddle tail on a jig head absolutely crushes everything on this river! Born and raised, still fishing it to this day.

This fellow was too much in love with that buzz bait early on. Unless they were really blowing up on it I would have ditched it early on. I grew up in that country and did a lot of fishing on the Big Piney, the Gasconade's major tributary. If I'd have been fishing there I would have tried a weightless Yamamoto Senko. I would have thrown it up in the faster water and let it wash down into the heads of the holes. Although this fellow fished a lot of good water, he paddled through some of those shoals I would have fished. I usually paddled through the longer, deeper holes and concentrated on the areas adjacent to the shoals or the smaller, swifter pools. I did like the fact he that later on he threw a jig into that deeper cover in or near current. He had better success when he did that. In fact, I would have been fishing that stuff and paddled through some of the water he was fishing.

Would you consider making a detailed video on the mount for the trolling motor? Looking to build one and think yours looks pretty damn good.

I was wondering if you had a video showing or explaining how you set up the rope pull in order to raise and lower the trolling motor

Personally the baits that have worked on the river for me is a 3 inch largo shad swimbait or a zoom 4 inch lizard Texas rigged.

Great videos great kayak watch for one on your trolling motor on the ascend was wondering if you could describe to me what the fitting looks like is it round at the bottom and did you have to screw it to mount it and did you use the regular shaft that you got off the trolling motor to attach the head to the fitting

more natural baits will get you more fish, plus that retrieve is way too fast. What's considered a big smallie down there?
@IndianaSmallmouth Жыл бұрын
Nah, that's the proper retrieve for that bait. You anger them into striking with the noise and don't give them much time to decide.
@IntoTheWildFlyFishing Жыл бұрын
@@IndianaSmallmouth Nope. You don't "anger" smallies. Fish don't "decide" they react. I've caught literally thousands of smallies.

@Lancesitton2 жыл бұрын
nice vid. looked like the smallies slept in. you ever use trailer hooks on buzz baits?
@BrianHillmanFishing2 жыл бұрын
I use trailer hooks on the my bigger buzzbaits. The plastic gets caught up a lot in the trailer hooks on the smaller buzzbaits. If you trim down the plastic enough typically a trailer hook is not needed.
@CastToCatch2 жыл бұрын
Right before the trolling motor you have those 2 black plastic pieces that hold your rudder tubing and are screwed down. Where did you get those? I need that badly!

This yak has a weight limit of like 350. Do you think they're playing it really safe? Some rate over 500 idk why this is so light?
@BrianHillmanFishing3 жыл бұрын
I found it to be very stable. The primary stability wasn't great but the secondary stability was. Standing wasn't easy since the lack of primary stability would cause the kayak to rock quite a bit. However, sitting and leaning over the side to net a fish was no problem for me as the secondary stability was great and I never feared flipping.

Bad ass vessel she's beautiful. I finally recieved my new feel free moken 10 V2, camo green. I purchased my 2.5 suzuki outboard, with a side fitted transom mount island hopper outboard makes. Put my scotty outriggers on. I've only had her out once from morning to nite. I reached 11.8 mph, with most of my fishing equipment. This winter she'll get more accessories, like a little kid. I did want to ask, did you re-do the floor deck, or is it factory. I want to put a softer decking with more grip. But that kayak is sweet. Love all our differences in setups..Be safe..

Love the setup! I am currently trying to do this same type of thing to my 128T and I was wondering how you are transporting the Kayak with the stern handle covered up by the trolling motor? I made a set of wheels for mine but it isn't always the easiest to maneuver.
@BrianHillmanFishing4 жыл бұрын
I used a trailer for while and just backed it in the water at ramps. Decided to to ditch the trailer the last year I owned it. Transported it in the back of my truck. I would slide it out into the water on the ramps. I never had a need for a back handle.

Can you tell me how you cut the shaft on the trolling motor .
@BrianHillmanFishing4 жыл бұрын
I used a pipe cutter designed to cut copper plumbing line. It clamps on shaft then you just rotate it and tighten it down as you go. Makes for a nice clean cut and you don't run the risk of accidentally cutting any of the wires in the shaft. Don't for get to turn the motor upside down when making the cut. You don' t want any of the shavings to fall inside the shaft and down into the motor itself.
