How do you plan to make inroads with that yesteryear 80s shredstick in a market already dominated by Ibanez and Jackson? Meanwhile the gen-x are aging.
@robertpurdy44522 ай бұрын
You've missed the point of the guitars. They are throwback '80s shred machines built here in the United States. They only make a small number and sell out each run. They are pointedly trying not to be Kramer, Jackson, and Ibanez and can stand toe-to-toe with Custom USA built models. You need to compare them to the correct lineups and the Badlands are much less expensive than Fender Custom Shop, USA built Schecters, Suhrs, USA built Jackson, etc. These were never meant to be compared to import models.
@verbotenco2 ай бұрын
@@robertpurdy4452 Definitely a throwback to the 80s. Even your mindset is a throwback to the 80s...lol. These days even guitars made in Indonesia are as well built as USA Gibsons, Fenders, etc. It seems you are stuck in the past bruh... Go out and try those 'import models' you seem inclined to dismiss and prove it to yourself. As for these Badlands guitars, they are too late in a market already shrinking with the target audience are literally dying out. Gibson has recently done that with the newly revived Kramers; Fender with Charvels; and Ibanez with the Genesis line.

@@robertpurdy4452 I have nostalgia for 80's USA shredders though to be fair the time period had plenty of amazing options coming out of Japan also. In and around this price point there are a lot of vintage guitars around and many of those will be worth more 10 years from now not less. My MIM Charvel San Dimas has a fast maple neck rolled fingerboard solid Floyd and a set of smoking Duncan's in it for a lot less money.

This looks awesome and I'm in the market but it misses a couple of points for me. 1. I will not buy a guitar with a glossy neck finish. 2. I will no longer buy guitars that don't have stainless steel frets. In a year of playing I get significant fret wear on standard frets and it's just not worth it anymore. Glossy necks just feel sticky and slow.

Does anyone know how much it costs to run a business in the U.S.? Yes, I know they are not building these guitars themselves ( its impossible ) but the company they are sourcing them from, Is a U.S. company who i am sure has a high price for something like this. Everyone complains, Why do we source everything from China? and not make our products at home? Its because us as Americans are spoiled. We want products made at home, for practically nothing. Nobody wants to work these days, Why? because companies dont pay enough. Its all one big circle of us being Spoiled and Greedy. Therefore we buy from other countries for pennies because there workers will actually bust a#$ to make a dollar. You could build this same guitar for a lot cheaper? Great! Then do it and compete with these companies. If you plan to build these and sell them, Good luck on making any profit if you charged under 2k. Dont forget to pay all the overheard that it takes to run even a small business. They are trying to offer a USA made guitar for as cheap as possible, While still paying everyone a decent wage. Thats what you are not seeing. They also are not doing this for nothing. They themselves, Need to make a dime, Nobody does anything for free these days. I wouldnt expect them to. Also. This is a cool and fun way for there biggest fans and supporters to be a part of something.

Most all guitars are made on CNC machines today, except for small custom builders which you are not. You are just doing the same thing Chapman, Solar and others are doing is simply contracting out a company to make these for you. There are already tons of competition in this segment. Sure, not USA made, but USA made is not what it used to be. The Gotoh bridge is a cost cutting move. 80's was all about Floyd Rose. The Quartersawn maple mid stripe is also a cost cutting move. Real one-piece quarter sawn necks are much more exclusive and expensive. The problem you have, is you and Phill have made a lot of money on your "paid" reviews on foreign and lower cost guitars and how great they are. And many of them are. This offering is what the kids say is a Fail.

The one thing that does bother me is they never mention anything about where the bodies are made. Also keep in mind, The price is kinda high because this is really for someone who loves 80s guitars AND who are also big fans of these guys. This is one way to support them and to have a piece of history that was created by them. If you dont have a clue who they are or could care less about supporting them, Then i honestly say your money could be spent elsewhere for better. The re-sale value is going to be horrible on these if you ever want to sell it.
