So you've bought a performance car and one of your complains about it is that it's reaching the speedlimit too fast?
@eddiearies6 күн бұрын
It turns out that it was Stage 1 remapped, topping it up to 300bhp. I bought the car as a nimble B-road hot hatch, but with the traction and power, it was reaching legal limits too quickly to enjoy the progression. Coming from MX-5s, I enjoy the overall drive and handling of cars, over 0-60. As it was, it was best for straight line speed. Bear in mind that this review was before I was officially made aware of the remap. The S1 with 228bhp is far more useable, suiting this power more.

whats weird is that your car has the old wet belt design despite being a 2023. They updated it around 2019 with a chain instead, which is much better and less ecoboomy

The biggest factor at the moment is that S1s and 595s are half the price. As a car, the i20N is the most dynamic, but it just didn't feel special. It depends what's important to you and what your budget is. If you wanted the dynamics of an i20N for half the price I'd recommend the latest Fiesta ST. Otherwise the S1 just feels exclusive, well... like an Audi. If I didn't get the S1 I would have got an ST for the same price. Hope this helps!
@badusername43 ай бұрын
Brill! yer it does thanks , the car is “for the gf”. I still think the Audi does day to day better and feels snug in a good way even though it’s older. I’ve found a device you can get CarPlay up with and I actually prefer the pop up screen over the big displays so winning. Everyone knows the st but no one knows the s1 and never see any, part of it’s charm all these years on I think now :)

@@badusername4 Pleasure, glad to be of help. I see, "for the gf". S1 and ST are a good comparison. Might be worth comparing back to back? Funny you should mention the infotainment screen... Thank you very much, and for being a Dartmoor advocate. It will likely be a case of keeping, maintaining and enjoying until I am able to upgrade now. There's not going to be anything better for the price, so it's a really good car to have. One aspect I'm more and more interested in, is the fact the S1 is almost completely a standalone car, unlike the A3/S3 which were both Quattro. The A1 had to be redesigned to become the Quattro. So quite a rare thing. Thanks for your thoughts on the matter, I appreciate your support and recommendations!

Which mode/setting did you use for the steering? I suppose it's all relative but I don't find the Steering especially heavy (even in "N" mode") compared to my old Mk.1 Swift Sport. Ditto the performance comparison. I really like my i20N and don't feel the urge to rev it to the max in each gear. It's plenty quick enough for normal road use

I believe it was in N Mode, with the amplified engine noise and all. I'd just jumped out of my Audi S1 which has very sharp but light steering. The i20N felt sharp, but slightly more "dampened" than the "buttery" S1. This could also have been down to the fact the i20N had about 1K miles on the clock. It was a superb car which I would definitely recommend. I also found out that the S1 is Stage 1 300bhp, which explains why the power felt so different. I do believe around 200bhp is more usable every day.

I still really like the Rambler as a travel/adventure bottle that you can throw in a bag. If I were to buy another YETI, it would probably be one of their stackable tumblers (16oz). Mainly because the Rambler doesn't fit in my Audi cupholder, when it did in my Honda CR-V. I'd also like the MagSlider lid next time primarily for driving or at home. Thanks for your question, let me know if I can provide any further info!
