Great app so far, but if u have autoscroll turned on, then you still have to click each verse or section for the lyrics to be sent to Chromecast view. Why can't the autoscroll feature trigger the next set of lyrics to display
@garethevans734 ай бұрын
The difficulty is knowing when the next lyrics should show automatically. If it when they are at the top of the screen, the last section would never show as it stays at the bottom, if it is when the lyrics first appear, again, the first verse and perhaps a chorus are likely to be on screen at once. There isn't an easy option for the app to know when you've finished a section and are about to move on to the next without you telling it

Love these modes. Just wished the app was simpler to use, like songbook pro
@garethevans738 ай бұрын
I've tried to make it as simple as possible, but in fairness it has so many more features and customisability there always has to be a trade off. Once you've learned the basics it is actually pretty simple. I use multiple times a week and normally only need to start it up, load my set and I'm ready to swipe back and forward between my chosen songs or use the set list (I tend to use the inline set) to skip songs. If there are areas in particular you find are unhelpful, or could be simpler, or need an instructional video, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also remember that the forum is a great place to get help as is clicking on the web help button on most pages in the app (as this will take you to the relevant page of the online user manual). I'm not offended if you prefer another app!

@@garethevans73 i actually like the modes so much Im forcing myself to learn this APP. I have ONLY two complaits. It crashes a lot, and I dont know how to make multiple sets
@garethevans738 ай бұрын
@@efosefpsefjpos Hi, the crashes were due to a bug in v6.1.1 (I'm assuming that is the version you are using) and these have been fixed in v6.1.2 which I pushed to the Google Play Store this morning. In order to understand multiple sets, be aware of two terms - current set and saved sets. The current set is the set you currently have loaded/built in the app and are using. Current sets can be saved as 'saved sets' which can be loaded back as required. Most set actions can be accomplished from either the set menu using the save button or the + action button at the bottom, or alternatively, using the Settings > Manage sets option. You can read more about sets in the online guide (I've picked the ones most relevant to you): Set menu: www.opensongapp.com/user-manual/sets/set-menu Creating new sets: www.opensongapp.com/user-manual/sets/create-a-new-set Save sets: www.opensongapp.com/user-manual/sets/save-set Load sets: www.opensongapp.com/user-manual/sets/load-set Basically, add songs to your current set (there are various ways you can do this, but the simplest and most common method is to use the check boxes in the song menu). Open the set menu which will display your current set and you can reorganise the items if required. Click on the save button (this button only shows up if there are changes since the last save). When you save a current set for the first time, you need to give it a name. If you continue to edit this current set, clicking on save will update the saved set with this name. Create a new set by clicking on the + button in the set menu and select 'Create a new set'. This clears your current set (it doesn't delete saved sets). Add your new songs and repeat the process of saving the set with a new name to have a different set you can load back in. Once you are ready to load up a saved set and use it as your current set, click on the + button in the set menu and select 'Manage your sets', then select 'Load set'. Choose the set you want to load and click the 'Load' button. This clears any songs in the current set and replaces them with the contents of the saved set that you loaded up. You can load multiple sets at a time (they get appended in the order they are selected when loading). I will create a short video guide to using sets and upload it to this channel. Please let me know if this helps, or if you have any more questions, please use the forum so others can help and benefit from answers: groups.google.com/g/opensongapp To add songs

@@garethevans73 nice! Thanks for the help. One more thing, is there a way to import several files instead of only one?
@garethevans738 ай бұрын
@@efosefpsefjpos It depends on the file types. If they are OpenSong formatted files, you can paste them directly into the OpenSong/Songs folder and restart the app. Make sure you run the full index so they are added to the database. If they are part of an OpenSongApp or OnSong backup file, they can be imported directly into the app using the corresponding 'Add songs' button. What format are your songs currently in? I'm planning on adding an 'Import files from folder' option that will automatically import text, ChordPro, PDF, image, OpenSong and OnSong files from a selected folder on your device, but that isn't available yet.

Ah Gareth the more you know. I've been using Opensong since its early days and even conversed with you both by the forum and by email. Never realised you liked a good real ale. For many years I brewed my own. From stouts, ales, lager, pilsners, you name it I probably had a crack at making it.
@garethevans73 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely love a real ale. My friend and I ran a brewery for a few years, but gave it up recently as we're both too busy! Started off as a home brewer. During COVID lockdown, we ran a home brew club for some friends over zoom calls and taught them the process of home brewing too. Such a fun hobby, especially using all grain. Hoping to get back into home brewing soon, once things settle down and I hand in my brewing licence! It's funny how your tastes change - I used to prefer IPAs (traditional), but regularly go back to dark ales (porters, stouts, speciality, etc). For a long time during lockdowns, I went off IPAs and moved to pale ales. Gone back to IPAs and stouts though. Every so often I brew wheat beers. I've never made a proper lager as low temperature control, or pressure fermentation isn't something I have. I did do a Kolsch a while back over the cold winter months and it was fantastic.
@ianwanden6760 Жыл бұрын
@@garethevans73 I traditionally did all my brewing out in the garage over winter. Each of the fermenters (23 litre) had a had a home made sleeping bag like cover and an immersion heater like those used for fish tanks. Due to the insulation the heater rarely came on and then only for a short time, this meant that I could do reasonably low temp brewing. Brewing in Australia over summer has the opposite issue with temp so brewing tended to become rarer over that period.

I'm afraid that's not possible in the OpenSong song format. The app will also display pdf files if you have more complex formatting requirements, but obviously you won't be able to edit or transpose pdf files!

@garethevans736 жыл бұрын
To connect devices as in the video, you just need WiFi turned on, even if they don't connect to an internet router. However, be aware some devices will turn off the WiFi to save power if no connection is made. To avoid this, set one of your devices to a mobile hotspot and connect them all to this.
