I love this one. Aurthur played on the Tenor Sax! I also had the privilege of hearing him at a club in the Village, playing with Mcoy Tyner's group. It was amazing!

I love this version from the Freshmen. My dad shared this song and Don’s cover of Holiday from this album as well when I was a kid. My Dad loved Don’s treatment. And I was a fan ever since that day! Great memories!

Yes and I know what you mean. GREAT. Just as the man singing. You know the blues is all right. His voice was so powerful and clear. He and BB Bland were the most well spoken of all of my blues heroes. Now loved all blues singers.

His Kung Fu skills (Musical talents + guitar + piano + saxophone) were magnificent. I've learn so much as Arthur practice but it will more like night school (so many students) playing in my basement at 455 Rogers Ave Crown Heights Brooklyn, NY. He was so far ahead of his time like Hendrix, you have to have been there to see and hear this amazing talent. Vincent Atwood

@@greenmanwl I still have the vinyl but played this beautiful album to death- the cover is still in good shape but the disc finally melted in the sun - have been looking for that beautiful original studio version of merls "my problems got problems" i liked that vocal/version better than the live keystone etc that followed

There is much to be said about this composition; it is epic in both the depth of the individual solo performances and unbelievably powerful in the progression of the melody. I remember hearing this song on late night radio in NYC when the album was first released in 1991 and was so completely blown away that I purchased the album the very next morning! The song has a truly gut wrenching melancholia throughout that it makes the listener want to replay the song once, twice.. immediately following the first play of the day. The song harks back to a melange of famed classics, such as Earl Hagen's Harlem Nocturne, Ellington's Blood Count, and Uan Rasey's solo performance of the Chinatown Theme, all of which musically attempt to portray Urban Noir from a past era..call girls late at night along back streets, late night bars and the individual angst that ensues. I literally wore out my first copy of the CD, and paid dearly for the following 2 copies which I purchased through the past 25 years. In another era, this song would have become a major resonating classic. It is a composition which is testimony to the talent of the musicians who composed this particular quintet and cumulative experience of Mr. Barron in particular. My appreciation to you, Mr. Ricketts, for posting this song upon YT.
