Mate, please answer me this question. All my life I have wondered how racing pigeons know where to go. I get that they can home, but how do people direct them to a new target? I'm sure this is a ridiculous question, but it baffles me.

maybe your pigeons is use to you on the roof?, but they might circle 3 or 4 times to make sure all is well and its only you. (in our club that can put you down 5 places easy on the shorts.) Stripper pigeons can at the other hand save you 3-4 circles... LOVE your channel! Gee die groot manne gas! ;)

I coulnt help smiling while watching your video.! You know all roads lead to Rome. Some are litlle winding dirt tracks and others are broad tarred double highways all the way. You have to make your way to the highway as best you can often taking the wrong exists and then having to retract and try again to get there.! The markers pounting the way for you are many. You have to get there on your own but there are many guideliness that you can follow if you are open minded that can assist you. Many are so contraversial and you will get a hundred different oppinions about just about all of them.! The first one i must mention is cutting of the flights. All informed pigeon fanciers know that pigeons are your tools to get a job done well. A good tradesman will always ensure that all the tools he uses will be sharped correctly. Same with your pigeons.! If you had cut the flights by the 10th of January and had pulled them 14 days later you would not be confronted with birds on the 9th and 10th flight of moulting now. I have cut flights all my racing career of more than 40 years and have never had that problem. The next very contravertial point i want to mention revolves around pigeon feed.! You can do as you please but just know this. Worldwide maize forms an intergrall ingredients in all pigeon mixtures whether you like it or not.! Thats a fact you cannot arque away. Why? Because it works. Further barley is universally used as part of a depuritive seed mix after racing and in preparing birds for races. Thats a fact. Why? Because it works. The method of light feeding early in the week and progressivly more heavy feeding towards race day is and has been the receipe to success for ages. Thats a fact. Why. Because it works.😅 Just realize that all the pigeon wheels have been designed long long ago. You do not have to develop new pigeon wheels no more. All you have to do is copy those designs. Doing that makes the task of flying well so much easier.!

Quick question. That beach or play sand doesn't give the birds cocci..Does the rain blow in there..I've been flying race birds for over 43 years, and I was taught never to use sand cause it breeds cocci..

I live in Australia. Iv had this problem for the last seven years untill I changed 1 thing this year. What you have is viral, no amount of antibiotics will work. You need to kick start there digestive system. The worst thing for a young bird is barley. I followed the system you did at the start with the barley last year, and it was the worst season I had ever had. I was almost done after 4 races. This is what worked for me this year. Keep in mind this is breeding with the exact same breeders this year as last year. Last year i was thinking all these people are telling me this feed light this day give them this that day put this in the water do this do that, exactly what your doing right now. And when I handle there birds at baketing you can feel the corn and safflower and all the good seeds in there crop, not much seed but a little bit. So it got me thinking next year out with the barley and they will only get a heavy feed. And lone behold this year iv had no adeno virus. So in a short note. feed them a heavy mix no pellets it doesn't work there digestive system enough like seed. Once they come off pellets onto seed there digestive system doesn't handle it. Hear is what you need to do Hold them off food for 24hrs to empty them out a bit Only clean water. They need to drink heaps to hydrate, if there is anything in the water they won't drink as much. Then only feed a heavy breeding mix with peanuts. You have to feed by eye. Once 5 or 6 go to the drinker remove the food and the rest of the feed give to the breeders or feed it to them tomorrow. Clean water the whole time. Something so simple but it worked for me. Only feed heavy for ybs when your going to send them to a race or toss, the day before only feed half what you usually do. And the morning of basketing a few handfuls off safflower. I think what you have are long distance birds they will be slow at the start but they should hold there own in the long distance races depending on genetics. Any sick birds separate them from the rest and feed the same. some may not recover but most should. Please try this for atleast 1 week. You can thank me later.

I don't think that there is anything you can do at this stage for the youngsters. It will just have to burn itself out. The ones that survive survive. The sick ones who recover may never perform at their full potential.

Hi Henry sorry about your ybds . There are so many diseases and viruses going around it's difficult to diagnose. When I listen to all your treatments there is not much else u could of done. I unfortunately don't have a answer for your problem if u find the solution please share. Your 30 km training flight from work is more than enough as long as they have a longer one over the weekend either a race or 200km toss. Just a question is your boot ventilated when u toss the birds?
