Washerlad 2014, The black plate in the door is actually the heat sensor plate, it monitors aspects during the drying phase of the cycle, it's not a filter. The fast, slow, tumbles are carried out during the heating phase, once the heat phase is complete it'll revert to standard long one speed tumbles, until it reaches the last few mins of the wash phase. I suggest you run a rinse only cycle prior to the main cycle in future, it'll save it doing saturation once the main cycle has started. I'm impressed with the Wash-Spin on this model, on my WT945, it does X05 spin bursts from 150RPM to 600RPM, then a longer spin at 500RPM, 700RPM & 1000RPM. If you're lucky, a short time into the drying phase, it'll do a Thermo-Spin at 1600RPM. Don't know if it's the same but if you set its max RPM for the Spin Dry, then set it to dry (wash/dry), it may well reduce the RPM to 1200RPM, it certainly does does on my WT945S, but it'll then do 1500RPM during the Thermo-Spin. On my SoftTronic, it does rinses with a reasonable amount of water.

Our family owns this washer/dryer set. This washer is brutal - really the only setting that puts enough water in the tub to wash anything bigger than a half load is the Bulky/Bedding cycle. It's sensor is awful for water level, even Deep Wash is useless. The only way I found around it was to pause it once it completed the initial 'fill' (barely 1/4 of the tub most times) and add water from a hose attached to the wash sink. If you get enough water in it, the turnover is OK at best but for the most part it's really non-aggressive and slow. I'm just waiting for it to die so I can upgrade it with a proper front loader.

I have a very similar Hotpoint machine a WT540 it still works, but unfortunately the front of it has rusted out just below the door, I've had it a long time, had three new handles on it, fingers crossed for a few more months.
