Says there is no quota…. Then describes a quota as reason number two that there is no quota. If your performance is measured, by your superior officer… based on the number of tickets issued per day… THAT IS A QUOTA!

The good news is that a passenger seatbelt ticket doesn't go on your driving record or have any demerit points. The only penalty is the fine. If it's the money you are worried about, you can schedule a date to meet with the Prosecutor and ask for a lower fine or more time to pay the fine

i got a careless driving in KY for my car touching the white line a couple times no injuries upon any person or property, cop said if you don't wanna draw attention to yourself don't flip me off after he handed me the citation. still waiting for pretrial in 4 months

I received one recently, but, I did not actually run the entire intersection. I came to a complete stop before going under or through the light. There were no other vehicles/pedestrians in my way so I reversed back behind the line and waited for the light to turn green before proceeding. Neither photo that was provided show me through the intersection and you can clearly see my brake lights active. Do I have a case to get this dismissed or should I just have the fine reduced and be on my way?

Ontario’s laws on suspended license is trash. I went to drive test after paying my fine and because it had been more than 10 years, I was told I had to apply as a new driver and it would take 2 years to get a G . I wasn’t having that, I went to New York and got my license in 8 days. Went from no license or permit to full D license in 8 days Ontario needs to get there shit together

The Ministry of Transportation assigns a specific amount of demerit points based on the conviction. If each Speeding ticket you received was between 16 and 29 km/hr over the posted speed limit, then each conviction has 3 demerit points. There is no way to separate the demerit points from the conviction. That would have had to be done in court by having the rate of speed reduced before paying the tickets. Once you have paid a ticket, you are assigned the penalties, including demerit points. Demerit points stay on your driving record for 2 years from the date of offence and are used exclusively by the MTO. You are allowed to accumulate a certain amount of demerit points according to the type of licence you hold (G1, G2, G, etc.). Novice, Young and G1/G2 drivers have different accumulation thresholds than G licensed drivers. You can look up the demerit point system on the MTO's website

The charge that would best fit the situation that you described is Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm under section 320.13 (2) of the Criminal Code of Canada. If the injury was unintentional, a charge of Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm under section 130 (3) of the Highway Traffic Act would be more likely.

Any conviction under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act will cause an insurance increase. @@otdlegal I don't have any money for that sorry, im 18 and a relatively new driver, only getting my G2 a few months ago. I was pulled over for not having my headlights on at 11:00pm in a quiet suburb because my car is older and the lights do not come on automatically, as well as not having very much night driving experience. I was not ticketed for my headlights but was given the following two tickets, one failing to surrender my insurance card, and another for failing to surrender the vehicle's permits. I do have the proper documents, they were forgotten on my dining room table. As i have no money myself and my mom doesn't have much to spare, I am most likely going to have to represent myself without knowing anything about traffic court.

I just got a ticket for speeding over 25. Apparently, I was doing 75 on a 50 zone, which I didn't notice coz I was almost at the ramp to Lincoln Alexander so I was about to speed up. The cop was also coming from the opposite lane so I'm not sure if he really clocked me at 75. I checked online and it says 3 demerit points for 25 and over but I didn't see any demerits noted on the ticket, is it automatic demerit points for me? And is there any way I can remove the demerit points and just pay the fine?. Thanks.

Demerit points are not noted on traffic tickets in Ontario. A 25 over Speeding ticket carries 3 demerit points. If you pay the ticket or if you are found guilty of the charge, the court would report the conviction to the MTO and the MTO would apply the demerit points to your driver's licence. The only way to avoid demerit points is to have the charge reduced to something that does not have demerit points (for example, Speeding 15 over the limit), or to have the charge withdrawn or dismissed. These options are only available through the court if you fight your ticket. If you pay the ticket, you are pleading guilty to the charge and you will receive all the associated penalties

Yeah man happened to me too, wasn’t even on my phone, it was on my phone holder on my dash, with Spotify open playing music, at a red light, wasn’t looking at it or touching phone, still got the $615 ticket, 3 demerit points and 3 day suspension, plus huge licence reinstatement fee, and not to mention possible huge insurance increase. Absolute overkill for the situation, too much grey area with this “offence”. Ridiculous.

in the state of cal. the judge convicts you anyhow. as they just want the money. but if a traffic cop does not show up a couple times the traffic cop get placed on the worst day/ nights/ etc, in the worst part of there area.

I received a red light ticket in the mail. Except I was not the one driving, it was my daughter who is insured as the secondary driver. I have a zoom court date in July to fight it. What are my chances? What should I say? I have not worked since last August and suffer from social anxiety so I hardly go out. My daughter is currently living abroad. Should she call in to testify?

If you have scheduled an Early Resolution Meeting, this is usually when you ask the Prosecutor to reduce the fine, since that is the only penalty associated with a Red Light Camera ticket (no demerit points, and it does not go on your driving record so no insurance implications). If you have scheduled a Trial date, you will present evidence of your innocence. You may decide to have your daughter testify, however this charge deals with vicarious liability. This means you are not being accused of going through a red light personally, the allegation is that your vehicle did, regardless of who was driving. Hope this helps!

Red Light Camera tickets are sent to you by mail. It is very important to keep your address updated at Service Ontario so these tickets don't go to the wrong address. Assuming you kept your address updated, if you didn't get the first notice, you will get a notice of fine and due date by mail once you are convicted. If neither notice gets to you, there will be administrative fees added onto the fine and a third notice will be mailed to you. If your address is not updated, these fines and fees may first come to your attention when you are attempting to renew your licence plate sticker. You will have to pay all outstanding fines before you can renew your plate.

Any citation from a law enforcement officer should include a requirement that the officer be required to meet the same terms as the person being issued the citation. If the cited person is required to appear in court under the threat of a bench warrant for their arrest, then the officer who issued the citation should also be required to appear in court under the threat of a bench warrant for their arrest. What’s good for a citizen is also good for the public servants.

Seat belt fines are nothing more that a means of revenue. Not wearing a belt is only a danger to the driver, not to other cars. Deodorisers hanging from the mirror is another money grabber. I do wear a seatbelt because my car has a warning gong which is irritating, but nobody but I will suffer if I get injured for not wearing a seatbelt. If I was a cop, there is no way I would even consider ticketing someone for not wearing a seatbelt. It is extortion. Are cops law enforcers or revenue collectors?

A police officer is NOT a master over The People ! So if a police officer does not apear in Court as required; he now has a warrant out for his arrest. I call bullshit on this. If I get a notice to show up then they should get a notice to be there too. I have things I have to do as well as they do. If I don't show up I don't get a new court date I get an arrest warrant. While I go to jail they go about their merry way.

If they don't show up, it could be because it was a bogus ticket, and they don't want that proven in court. With a dismissal, there won't be clear evidence of their crime. Had it happen to me.
