Of course all of us muslim and non muslim sin ..to repent and ask GOD'S FORGIVENESS and to stop doing what causes our regret is crucial. Concentration in prayer is always a challenge ( even for a muslim born ) because our thoughts may all too easily wander and get distracted or any certain memory or idea or image come to mind . But we continue our prayer in an attempt to defeat the infiltration of our thought by shaitan or satan at that moment of a daily test, plus all the other tests, trials and ordeals of daily life. Don't make it too hard on yourself. Don't allow any extreme minded muslim to put you off when he or she make Islam seem too demandIng or make you give up ...feeling that whatever you do will not be good enough ! GOD IS THE ALL MERCIFUL ALL FORGIVING ALL COMPASSIONATE. Even in The Quran it is mentioned that Salah does take effort and patience( after all we are human, not saints or gods , and GOD KNOWS this and KNOWS ALL). واصطبر عليها . That is said in Th Quran about Salah ( prayer ). To be ' patient ' about it. Living in an environment anathema or hostile to one's religion or amidst a culture totally the opposite of the main fabric of one's belief system makes the trials and tests of faith and living more accutely felt as a challenge. Depression , restlessness and regret or doubt may set in ... Satan is happy to find us and lure us to his path in those moments of human weakness..our sorrow is a cause for satan's happiness because it opens doors to temptation or to anger against The Almighty One GOD. Please ask ALLAH for strength and inner peace and a greater submission to HIS WILL and WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE. Increasing salah nawafel may not necessarily be the answer. Taking time to reflect and think about one's experiences, tests, wrong decisions and incapability, plus one's share of responsibility in one's loneliness or unhappiness is important and needs courage at some point. I speak about myself and my sins and failures and regrets. Also taking time to relax mentally and spiritually and look at nature and some of its creatures..( plus you can do yoga and also if needs be seek therapy for a while ) are all normal and important things..nithing un islamic about them. Also as a practicing muslim..not most of my life( i don't wear hijab and am old now and I believe in my holy book we are commanded to be modest and cover our bodies but not explicitly to cover our hair nor face at all ) i never nor do the majority of muslims in muslim and Arab countries believe thwt music is haram or forbidden. We don't live in a silent deaf universe. Islam is not a punishment against life. Those who believe that do it a great injustice. Islam is simple and beautiful. Living was never easy nor a vacation. Living with faith and remaining steadfast in it can sometimes be like holding on to hot charcoal in one's hand. May GOD BLESS you and your efforts to remain and to strive to be a good believer and a devout muslim in your heart and deeds
