I’ve noticed these errors on my observation car as well, I’ve personally gotten used to it and I haven’t been bothered too much by the inconsistency. Though the biggest letdown in my opinion is the lack of a lighted PE plaque like my gold PE observation car has, same goes with the lack of the red classification lights on the sides. But I can get past those gripes and be happy with the new tooling and added details to the coach

Well initially I was concerned about the lack of a lit drumhead and classification lights but when I checked the movie neither appeared in it. The drumhead wasn't lit and no class lights. I guess it's what we are used to but Lionel got that detail correct. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment!

I was considering this car, however getting this car bothers me as it’s basically fixing the error that they originally made when they tooled these cars. No lighted drumhead, scale coupler looks dumb, boy is painted the wrong way, and while not horrible the colors don’t match. And of course the wrong letters. Lionel quality control is horrible. Glad you like it but it’s not for me.

Absolutely you can get a new shell. I ordered mine from a dealer. Just email them and let them know you're interested. Keep your receipt as well. It isn't going to happen instantly because they'll have to fit it in the schedule but when I hear something I'll post to this channel!

Yes I noticed that they put the lettering on wrong spot. Luckily I have the catalog so if someone sells it after I die it’ll be worth a lot more money with the catalog. If you remember I said I bought the main set along with five add on cars. I’m just upset that Lionel didn’t release the diner car as a station sounds car. In speaking of that, they spelled it as the dinner car on the main box that holds it. Not diner car.

I noticed the “dinner” spelling error on my set too and I too was disappointed that it wasn’t stationsounds equipped. Thought I’m just happy to have the Legacy locomotive and the matching passenger cars

@ I have the original Station Sound Diner car that was supposed to have the Hot Chocolate song. It was disappointing it didn't have it.

@@MartyE I think RBP trains mentioned that too! Probably had some issues with copyright stuff. What’s weird is that the toy company Brio back in 2004 was able to get the song to be included in the toy passenger car. It’s OK for little kids to enjoy the music but not adults apparently

Yes that is correct my friend. Lionel also spelled the diner car wrong. If you own the set and the diner car, you’d see on the box they spelled it as the dinner car

I can live with his robe color. That's an easy fix to paint it. But yes details matter.

I guess I was so excited to finally have Polar Express cars, I didn't even notice the wrong lettering position. I am really bummed my order for the Abandoned Toy car was cancelled.

I bought the K line freight car and the doors look like they operated but one was off and the other just pressed into the opening. Are they supposed to operate some way? I have a conventional layout.

I know they don't have any electronics in them for the door to operate but whether they actually open, I don't remember and will have to pull them out again to check.

The only thing I found on line was an ebay seller. They look good but would need to be the same height as the Micro Marks or you will have to make some adjustments.

I really try to keep them slower in videos as you don't have the benefit of a large view to see the details. I am so impressed by the PRR passenger cars. It's a beautiful set.

Is it possible to copy engine data that was previously installed with an orange module on to a Cab 2 remote and transfer the data into a second Cab 2 remote?

That data is stored in the base. That way any remote connecting to the base gets all the same data. The Cab2 reads the engine module data and "writes" it to the Base's data base. Without the base, the Cab2 has no engine data.

Now if you get a second base as a backup or spare (remember only 1 base per layout), you would need the Legacy Utility to copy the database of the first Legacy Base and then transfer it to the second one. The Legacy Utility is available on Lionel's Customer Service site. and you will need a serial capable computer or a LCS WiFi module. But back to your original question, as long as the second CAB2 is connecting to the same base it will have all the engines available to it.

I just got mine and theres only a whistle and bell. How did u get the chuffing and whatnot to work? Does that only work on TMCC? I only have a traditional transformer at the moment

On the bottom of the tender is a switch labeled RailSounds / Signal Sounds. It should be on Railsounds. Signal Sounds only makes Bell and Whistles. Railsounds gets you chuff also.

Just got mine after I saw your video a few weeks ago. Love this engine so hard!!!! It’s a HUGE smoker! Totally agree a halloween engineer would’ve been good. I’m going to try and add a couple of figures to it. Passenger cars are great but i really would love one car with sounds as an option. Thanks for the review. It really helped decide on a big purchase but was totally worth it.

Those puffer type smoke units always seem to leak some smoke out past the piston. I'm sure it's not by design but works.

I was EXTREMELY tempted to order the Train Loft Custom Run Atlantic Coast Line version purely due to the purple paint scheme. GORGEOUS!!! I had so many other "high ticket items" on pre-order, that I had to pass on all of the Hiawatha engines. 😢

Thanks Marty. I got the new Berk, then was able to procure some new old stock of the RPO, Reindeer, abandoned toy, and hobo to make a decent consist for my ceiling layout for Christmas. Honestly, each seems to either have a slightly different shade of blue and/or the red stripe. I preordered the diner, new observation, combine, and 20th anniversary coach. Before this video I didn’t realize the hot chocolate car and the diner were different.

The big difference is the Hot Chocolate car is a Legacy Sound Diner car. The original diner car did not have sound. Yes they do seem to have an issue matching colors. Have fun!
