Great video. Probably won't invest in one as I only have 1 lionel train with tmcc and it is the Canadian Pacific F3 set. I will just run it conventionally through my DCS system. Thanks

Awesome video!!! I have the same locomotive and I love everything about it expect how quiet the whistle sound is when the locomotive is highballing... I can barely hear the whistle sound. It's the only locomotive I have that does that. 👍😎🇺🇲

You know, we rode on some N&W 1218 excursions back in the early 1990s and it was quite an experience. Maybe 1218 will be back someday but I'm not holding my breath.

@@MartyE I really appreciate the information Marty. I wish the voice could’ve been a little bit more clear. There was another manufacturer that made it for all gauges but they got shut down probably for not having a license. That one sounds authentic just like the real railroads. I found it on KZbin. bouldercreekengineering was the manufacturer. Sounds incredible!

Nice ending to the series, Marty! Very true on how the 29204 has come down in price over the years (probably true for most of these types of "intended to be collectible" boxcars, but that's a different topic ;) ). I recall thinking I got a pretty good deal when I paid someone $160 (!) for one, but that was probably at least 15-20 years ago,. Closer to when CC 1 was current, I remember most offerings of sale originally being closer to the $300 range. And can't argue on the Whistle, as other's have agreed. Some of that early TMCC stuff has phenomenal sounds, even if technically an older version of the hardware before the technology evolved into RS4, RS5, Legacy RS. I sort of want to dig out my Die Cast miniatures now for the CC 1 engines, I haven't looked at them for quite a while. I think they were offered at the end of the program after this last engine. Not sure if they were the last offered CC 1 item, but they might have been.

Just acquired this set yesterday.Is this set scale or traditional? I am guessing traditional Marty would you know the product number for the passenger cars? Did these engines ever pull freight,in real life To be honest,this set seems a little primitive,. I'm seeing in the comments that it is the same as postwar construction,so that's a good thing.thanks for the information

Here are the the 2 sets...Lionel #6-19154 Atlantic Coast Line Aluminum Passenger 4 Car Set and Lionel 6-21766 Atlantic Coast Line Aluminum Passenger 2 Car Set. Yes these are PW engines with an updated control and sound package. Still some of my favorites.

How do I connect a power transformer to this set up with a base 3?

The transformer is connected to the track like always. The hot lead to the center rail and the common to the outside rail(s). Take a wire from the "Track U" post on the back of the Base 3 and connected either to the outside rail of your track or to the common connection of the transformer.

Marty, what gives power to the track and trains? How is a transformer hooked to the track with the cab base 3?

The transformer is connected to the track as always. Hot to center rail, common to outside rails. The Base3 "U" terminal goes to either the transformer common or in this case I have it connected right to the outside rail. The Base3 is just a signal processor and provides no power to the track.
