How many of you think this footage is anything other than CGI? Like pictures of the Mars Rover lol.

Reminiscent of the old classic "When Worlds Collide", novel and film featuring such a sled mounted rocket.

I think this project has been scrapped, mostly due to SpaceX success in the reusable rocket business.

Although not perfect this is the best CGI ever. This is how we will land reusable boosters and space ships in the near future. Not today not tomorrow but someday this becomes reality.

I would really scale back on the "HOT trail" while taking off.. it is very unrealistic other then that it looks fantastic.

The UK is stuck in a downward spiral due to its stupid Brexit and political correctness. Helping the lazy is dumb as was leaving the EU; and the days of leading are long gone. All economic indicators putter Uk in tier 2

I always thought the Douglas proposal made the most sense. Enough mature technology as to allow focus on the main effort. An SSTO does make sense if it designed around one specific purpose. It least in my opinion. And that is delivery of crew or passengers to an orbital destination. That destination could be a research facility, a manufacturing facility, a vehicle assembly facility or an interplanetary or lunar bound vessel that was either assembled in orbit or launched on a lower cost non man rated Big Dumb Booster. Also instead of vertical landing l think l would have gone for a runway. In terms of quick turnaround for a workable SSTO l don't see anything less than two weeks given todays technology. Besides most of the vehicle cost is in development. Build a fleet of 10 instead of two or three.

Why not accelerated rail launch it, to save on takeoff fuel? If you can rely on the jets and ramjets alone until it gets high up in the atmosphere. Also, could the ramjet simply become the rocket engine after it gets too high for air, by just injecting the oxygen into the ramjet combustion chamber. Then you could have a jet turbine, a ramjet, and a rocket engine all in one. Then use a linear accelerator rail to launch it, saving big on takeoff expenditure.

Very cool ideas. When I was a young man I worked at MAF in New Orleans in the 80s. Once, when a shuttle landed on the west coast, they had to fly it back to Florida on the 747 carrier. Nasa took that opportunity to do fly-bys over all the Nasa facilities along the way. I remember standing on the apron on the west side of the main manufacturing building watch the carrier and shuttle fly low overhead. It was impressive.

Вот же чушь! Разгон нужен только если тяги двигателей не хватает поднять всё топливо и это топливо сперва выжигается. Потом всё равно двигатель должен быть мощнее всего веса. Такой старт - чушь
