A simple question that’s difficult to answer. I think Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry is excellent. There are similar fragrances (companies looked at Lost Cherry and either copied it -see Bodacious from Boadicea - or used it as a blueprint for their fragrance) and Tom Ford fragrance saw this and released ‘flankers’ Cherry Smoke and Electric Cherry. Lost Cherry is - in isolation - worthy of ‘hype’. The problem comes when you look at the price. It’s not, for most people, worth the price. If you have an ‘average’ nose, there are plenty of clones of Lost Cherry, from really cheap no name fragrances on eBay, to slightly better options like Maison Alhambra Lovely Chèrie and Amarena Cherry. By the time you reach Boadicea prices it’s a personal choice. For me Lost Cherry lasts a long time, the initial cherry blast slowly giving way to a warm, somewhat creamy sandalwood. I like the evolution. Bodacious keeps the cherry note for longer, and that’s what many will prefer. But they’re both expensive. I wouldn’t dream of paying retail for Lost Cherry. I bought my backup bottles (plural) at excellent prices, in one case nearly 50% less than current prices. Once they’re gone I am unlikely to purchase again if prices continue to rise as they have in the last couple of years.
