Eurostar gets you from city center to city center. Security is more efficient than flying. You can bring more liquids. The seating is more comfortable. When you factor in the time to get to the airport that’s usually 30 minutes outside of a city, security, checking luggage, and then taking transportation to your destination in the other city, the train wins every time.

Thank you, this was helpful as I'm planning to use the Eurostar this year, for the first time in ages. The last time I went, the terminal was at Waterloo. That's funny you say to avoid getting a table seat because it means having to face a stranger the whole journey. In the 1980s, practically all seats in UK trains were like that, so I had a real phobia about train travel. I thought it was just me, because no one else seemed to mind it at all.

@@RonanandAlex I've just subscribed. I wonder if you need a smartphone to travel by Eurostar to Brussels and other places in Europe? I noticed that this last year, it wasn't possible to print out train tickets at home on Trainline for UK train journeys. The tickets either had to be on a smartphone or printed out at the station. This gave me some doubts, as I'd be a bit wary of trying to print out tickets at a machine at a foreign train station.
@RonanandAlex

@@keithbessant No need for a smartphone, if your purchase your ticket from the "National" Provider they give you the option usually of printing, if not St Pancras at the eurostar desk can sell any tickets on the former Thalys which is now eurostar 😀

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago. 4star stops on the ground floor. Our room had no free water or chocolates. What it did have was the previous occupants long hairs all over the room. And a terrible smell coming up through the sink. Our room was dirty, but bedding was clean. They did do a good breakfast. 👍 The rooftop pool was just above the temperature of ice!!

Hey! That’s correct, but this was “out of season” - during the summer peak it can go for over €200 a night, so it is only fair to do a comparison at that cost. As we summed up, for the price we paid it was okay!

Did they give you the Robin Hood suite or the Sheriff of Nottingham suite with built in torture chamber? I used to work for Hilton International for 34 years & have stayed in around a 30 of their UK & overseas hotels both on company business & also on holiday with my family as a guest. The hotels are either top draw 5 star or poor 2 star hotels posing as 3 & 4 star hotels - the only 4 star ones which are genuine 4 star hotels are the long time original Hiltons like the Kensington Hilton in London . Yours looks like it is one of the former Ladbroke hotels that were incorporated into the Hilton chain in the years that Ladbroke owned Hilton International and in my experience they were really crappy hotels with poor amenities & untrained & mostly foreign staff in the UK. How was the food? Even in the crappy Hilton UK hotels with poorly maintained rooms I found the food in general to be good & the food in the 5 star Hiltons to be very good to excellent

We were in just a “Deluxe Room” - maybe it could have been the Sheriff suite… 👀 Some really good knowledge there which we were not aware of we stay in Hilton’s quite a lot, but this seems to have had a refurb but lots of shortcuts it seems. @@RonanandAlex I never stayed at the Park Lane Hilton but did attend a business meeting there & had a great lunch there with Hilton London region sales & PR colleagues. The most luxurious Hilton I stayed in on holiday in the UK was the Langham Hilton (today it is no longer a Hilton) It was bought in a dilapidated state by Ladbroke & refurbished to luxury standards and not wishing to go through all the rigmarole of having the hotel opened with inexperienced staff they brought in a team of top notch veteran staff from Park Lane, the Paris Hilton, the Vienna Hilton, the Geneva Hilton, top staff from other UK Hiltons and even 'poached' staff from the Savoy & the Ritz Paris (by offering them much higher salaries) When I and family were there about 2 years after it reopened as a Hilton we were treated royally, the adjoining rooms we got had all the extra's & freebies you could possibly want & the food in the main restaurant was gourmet as the chefs & kitchen brigade were still the team recruited from the Paris Ritz & Geneva Hilton's. I hope you have a great time staying at the Park Lane Hilton & get to eat their breakfast buffet.

Of course the terminal is not fully ready! That’s what you have soft openings for, if you’re aquatinted with this term that is. The official opening is on the 9th of February. Am quite definite that after the 9th the airport would be fully ready. As a passenger you have the right to criticize Etihad, in fact am sure that etihad is happy to listen to their customers and enhance their customers experiences. However, your comments about the AbuDhabi new terminal are funny in a sad ironic way. I never was happy or satisfied flying to and from heathrow. Never made a video about it. Boarding and on floor staff in heathrow almost never gave me a good experience.

Hi, I think you may have mis understood or we were not clear in the video, you arrive at the pier where Anantara have a property where you wait, the staff are Anantara there, they took our passports to scan there and we think it would be great if the process was all done there. Also many hotels offer “mobile check-in”, but with this resort the preferred for us would to have had all the processes done at there “landside” property.

We would say the cheek, was more the way it was done. If they had been honest and stated “We need to change the seat”, we would have understood, both of us have previously worked for airlines so understand the operational need.

Hey, we found the food onsite to be a little pricey, at least £15 (700THB) for a main meal, we would recommend the short walk into a small town where there is some eateries, we loved Krouw Baanrow Resturant had starters, mains and a few drinks cost £5 each.
