Crazy people kill these owls here in South Texas because they consider them evil witches that are out cursing them or putting evil spells on them when they hear them screech at night

She legally can't it's a criminal offence to release a captive bred barn owl into the wild punishable by a £5,000 fine or 6 months imprisonment. There's also the fact that captive bred barn owls aren't likely to even survive two weeks in the wild so releasing him would literally be a death sentence.

There has been a new night bird on our property. This sound is a match. Their hunting sound would send any small animal on the run. I was surprised at how small they are. In the dark of the night, it sounds so much bigger. Thanks for sharing.

I think you should free him or at least take the chains off from the owls leg
@Fai-Fai
@Fai-Fai Жыл бұрын
If she owns the owl is because it cannot be set free. People can only own an owl if they have a license on handling birds of prey. Otherwise, the owl is in recovery and will be set free later. I don't think the thing on it's legs is bothering it, and is probably there for safety reasons.
@Nyxthehawk
@Nyxthehawk Жыл бұрын
The “chains” are actually called jesses. Those are basically like a collar on a dog (and fit like a collar: not too loose, not too tight) and are not harming the owl. From the video, it doesn’t appear that the jesses are connected to anything so this owl does have the freedom to move around.

He's slightly hungry here and is trying his luck asking for food. If you give owls food at this point, they just hide it and it goes all manky and they won't want to eat it then.

@@rtoward7275 My Barn Owl would not eat any meat that he had left in a corner for more than 12 hours. Any dried blood would make the chick fluff spikey. He didn't like the texture of that.

He would die within a week in the wild. Anklets suggest he was brought up in an aviary.
@markopolo1271
@markopolo1271 Ай бұрын
@@Fai-FaiThat's just wrong so long as you have the paperwork to prove it's captive bred you can own one literally all you'd need is an A10 certificate to prove that it's captive bred. Also as for the original comment it is illegal to release captive bred barn owls and can be punished with either a fine of £5,000 or 6 months imprisonment. There's also the fact that captive bred birds are unlikely to even survive more than two weeks in the wild. And this bird appears to be captive bred seen as captive bred barn owls don't tend to grow out of juvenile behaviours such as calling for food. This is all relatively easy information to find seeing as it's literally right there on the barn owl trusts website.

Oh, these are cute sounds,but when they hunt, they really screech. Got me outside the first time. The very loud singing night bird was rendered silent until the dawn. I also witnessed a young bald eagle eating his snack. Our scarred fire burnt area is coming back to life here in Northern California. Butte County 😅❤
