I liked Larghetto "Van Dieman's Land" the best because apart from the little tuning glitches, I thought this had the best folk feeling. Some of the others had a certain "I’d rather be playing Brahms" quality about them.

When was this recorded? It looks more recent than I remember.. when I and my father bought our first CD this was it. I can remember the same mistakes they make here. At least, some of them.

Always a pleasure to be the first to comment. Many thanks, TheDuo and Mark Chen, for posting this lovely composition. I think that Suk was related to Dvorak, maybe even his son-in-law. Either way, it's beautiful music. Keep up the good work, all of you! (Virginia, USA)

I like the part in 8:13 when the violins alternate with the viola and the cello with the same melodies to come together at the end :)

At the age of 20, Schubert put to music a poem by Matthias Claudius entitled "Death and the Maiden". The lied portrays a maiden begging for death to pass her by, and Death trying to persuade. The words from his song and Claudius's poem are as follows: Maiden: Stay away! Oh, stay away! Go, fierce Death! I am still young, please go! And do not touch me. Death: Give me your hand, you beautiful and tender vision! I am a friend, and come not to hurt you. Be of good cheer! I am not cruel, You will sleep softly in my arms!

Thank you for that. This is one of my favourite pieces but I did not know the words to Claudius's poem.

The 'Lento' from the 'Six Studies' has long been one of my favorite RVW pieces. It becomes a dance between the two instruments with the cello handing to the piano the main theme midway, a lovely exchange and so beautifully balanced.

@@vspianist I am really you consider this disgusting. If you are performer yourself, you know what it takes to get up on the stage and play live in front of the audience. I highly recommend you learn how to play the violin yourself, get up in front of the audience and play without any mistakes. I am disappointed you are not appreciating the beauty of the music and the effort the performers put in it
@vspianist3 жыл бұрын
@@dominikadancewicz6125 I was just giving you some feedback as a musician. There was no need to take it so harshly, I didn't say the entire music was horrible, it was just that part. sure, I could have said it nicely by not saying "disgusting" but still applies
@dominikadancewicz61253 жыл бұрын
Professional feedback hardly include words like “disgusting”. It’s not appreciated. I’d say if you don’t have anything nice to say, stay quiet. We are professional musicians and we are very much aware of every note we play. We put these recordings out there for you guys to enjoy them and to appreciate our efforts, not to label them “disgusting”. As I said, I’d be curious to listen to your performance if you are a musician yourself. It’s easy to criticize, much harder to actually go out there and perform in public.
