Honestly less difference between the two that I’d have expected. SVT sounds more raw and the fender is more refined. Seems like SVT would pair well with a P and the Bassman with a J

Love the Ampeg Cab Sound. I think it is a little bit more dirty, warmer. Supports the vintage Style tone.
@peepsieD3 ай бұрын
eq knobs at noon on a fender or on the orange means a bass and treble boost and mid range cut, because of the way Fender passive tone stack functions? So it’s not truly comparing flat EQ on all 3? The Ampeg would be the closest to flat at knobs at noon. a little bass and treble boost and mid cut on the Ampeg might bring it more towards the tones of the Orange and the Fender with knobs at noon?
@jochoui3 ай бұрын
@@peepsieD you are right! I was usually trying to get the same tone from each regardless of the knobs position but yeah, my bad.

Will listen with headphones later but what do you think, and room sound vs close mic’ed? It’s maybe silly but the black corners on the VB cabs irks me, visually… I guess chrome corners would be easy enough to swap…
@jochoui3 ай бұрын
@@peepsieD I will try the VB live tomorrow night and get a better opinion since I know this stage well. At first the VB is a bit more precise and articulate. VERY LIGHTweight. On the other side de Fender Neo is a bit more open in the mids and gritty-er. For now I give the upper hand to the Fender. We’ll se after a few shows :)
@peepsieD3 ай бұрын
In headphones I think the Ampeg has more clarity but still very full sounding, richer sounding than the Fender. I have a Fender Pro Neo 115 too, I believe the Fender Pro Neo cabs all have the same crossover that I think is a 2-way which attenuates some of the highs out of the woofer to make the cabs more uniform sounding with different speaker configuration (410, 610, 115..,) and also to shape a signature Fender tone (more scooped than a signature Ampeg tone). On gigs with my Fender Pro Neo cabs I always feel there’s something missing in the mids that I find in spades with my SVT112 AV cabs… very curious how your gigs with the VB cab go!
@jochoui3 ай бұрын
@@peepsieD The VB115 was very cool on a live situation! Full! All you can expect from a 115. I’m very pleased! I wonder if the cab construction will last trough years since it’s tiny. Very, VERY lightweight! Kinda expensive and both speakon connectors are loose and offer a bad connection. Made in Malaysia FTW!
@peepsieD3 ай бұрын
Well. Sounds like they put a great speaker in the right size box… with poor construction, and possibly not built for longevity? Maybe with some maintenance and care it will work out… cheers!

@jochoui4 ай бұрын
Hi Chris! Nothing can beat a vintage B15. The cab is part of the deal. On the other side, the Trinity is really close and more powerfull. Plus, it’s new! If you are not ready to spend 4k on a vintage one….build one and find a cab to match it.

The Orange AD200B MKIII is my favorite by a wide margin. The Fender Super Bassman is my next favorite. I’m quite impressed with what I heard here. Oddly, the Ampeg SVT comes in third place for me. And I LOVE SVTs. I’ve owned two of them many years ago. I’m now saving up to buy an AD200B MKIII.

@jochoui6 ай бұрын
Thanks! Humm, the Trinity is great but doesn’t have a DI (XLR out) and is not reliable for live situations/ output power. You could get an Ampeg Pf-50T with a great cab (Aguilar db112-115 or Bergantino). Noble is great but overpriced/trend) as power amp, lots of options available/$ you want to invest…otherwise I so sell B15 and Fender Bassman tube preamp. Haha! [email protected]
