Please help!!!! My daughter plays 12u travel ball on one of the top teams in the country and was named the starting catcher for her varsity team at school. The catch is he says no practice or games with the travel team till season is over. The competition we see on the weekends at 12u softball is honestly much better than I saw at school ball. I told the coach to just put her on the JV team for the next 2 years if it was an issue because we weren’t quitting travel ball at this age. Without travel ball we wouldn’t be in this situation. Most of her teammates are in the same boat with one having to quit the school team because of the same rule while another coach agreed to work with the travel ball schedule. None of our kids are being asked to miss a high school varsity game to attend a travel tournament but I think the high school shouldn’t demand the kids quit travel ball solely for high school when they rarely play on a Saturday anyway. My other issue is it only applies to travel softball. Several other varsity kids are allowed to play travel soccer while playing varsity softball so I don’t agree with that. Any advice navigating this is appreciated

Ultimately it's going to be a family decision and what is best for you all. It's important to be up front with the coach and have an open and honest conversation. It's not uncommon in sports like baseball for families to put more emphasis on travel ball than high school ball, but whether or not that's the right decision for everyone is just going to vary from family to family.

I was honest with the coach after the meeting explaining that quitting travel ball wasn’t an option at this point because I help coach the travel team and I committed to those kids for a year. He wasn’t happy and said he does that to try and avoid injuries. The kicker is the kids are allowed to play school basketball and soccer as well as travel sports during the softball season but travel softball is not allowed. That’s where he lost me. I told him to just put her on the JV team for 7/8 grades and she could play varsity starting 9th. I’m sure he doesn’t like that idea because she is the best catcher he has. We had this issue with our travel SS as well and they told the coach the same as we did and he quickly said he didn’t wanna go that route and would work with them on travel ball. For the life of me I don’t get it….. we would never have this conversation if we didn’t play high level travel ball. It’s like travel ball develops the kids then the schools want them to abandon it. The level of play is much higher at travel ball and I’m not giving that up for school ball that only lasts 4 months where only a handful of the games are really good competition

I have a dilemma. My daughter plays on one of the top teams in the top teams in the country as far as travel softball goes in her age group. She is a 7th grader but the varsity coach named her the starting catcher. With that came something I wasn’t ready for. He says zero practice or games with travel team until the season is over from Jan1-mid may. It has taken us a while to put together a travel team of this caliber and most of the kids on her travel team all made varsity spots on their teams and several others were put into the same boat. All of them told the high school coach to just put the kids on JV for the next 2 years that they were not stopping travel ball just because their kids were good enough to play varsity at 7th grade. All the coaches but 1 agreed to work around travel ball and allow the kids to continue to play varsity and travel ball. Our coach said let’s put the discussion off till a later date but I am 💯 not quitting travel ball all spring and punishing my kid at 12 years old by making her give up what got her in this predicament. Without travel ball we aren’t having this discussion. Any help navigating this area would be helpful. I do help coach the travel team so I am invested in the kids for 12 months vs the high school season of 4 months.

This is late but during Covid time it was not possible for me to do a lot of sciences and now I’m all focused in business on my last year of Highschool. I have been accepted by a D2 university in America and they are looking forward for me to come in spring and I’m from Jamaica but I got partially qualified by the eligibility center they said I am short 1.5 credits (0.5 in sciences and 1 in social science). From Jamaica is it possible to get the 1.5 credit needed in one semester for both subs? Or are there any other ways I can get this credit since I’m at my last year n already I deep in business?

hi ncaa I have a question to ask someone that juco junior college football walk on athlete that plays juco football games and practices with team drills can they contact d1 football coaches about getting a NCAA D1 football scholarships and sending them highlight videos and games i played in to recognize my talents and abilities

Absolutely nothing stopping you from reaching out to college coaches. Make sure to include film as they'll need that to evaluate you.

This is pretty late, but in case yall see this, do military members have eligibility after service? If I’m 22-23 after service, am I still eligible to play sports in college? I did a semester of college before service but dropped out to serve, if that changes anything

Yes! Those who serve at least 12 months can have their eligibility put on hold and can play college athletics after they return from service.

sadly it being abuse by students who use it to go to another college because the one they are with is not the number one in the conference and constantly losing so instead of staying and try again they rather go to the number one team and get the rewards from coaches that recruit them like cars and money and other stuff recruiting coaches throw at them even houses to get them to go to there school sadly the Supreme Court in Washington allow this to happen

Have you tried uploading the video to your NCSA profile? Once it's on there, the coach will be able to see it if you send them your profile link.
