Is polygel a soft gel like builder gel? Or is it a harder stiffer gel? Which do you prefer, big or poly?
@NicolesBeautyScene10 күн бұрын
@@likes.by.teri1 yep its a soak off gel like builder builder gel! And it cures hard like builder gel. The difference is that polygel is a much thicker consistency and you have to use a slip solution (like isopropyl alcohol) to move it around on your nails before curing. I still love BG, but polygel is pretty great to work with!

This was killing me lol. 1. Use the nail tip to scoop out the gel. 2. Apply the glue just barely 1 mm below where your free edge will be. You shouldn’t ever have to press that hard on the nail to get the gel where you want it. Use a marker to mark on the nail tip wear your free edge is so you know how far up to apply the glue. (The marker will wipe off with alcohol.) 3. If you were wearing 6 or 8 mil nitrile gloves (which you should be wearing already) you can just flatten the gel with your finger. Otherwise, use the wide end of a cuticle pusher. The gel softens the more you handle it, whether with your gloved fingers or with a tool, so you want something wide that will flatten it with just one or two presses. Otherwise you’ll have to keep stopping to put the gel in the fridge to get it firm again and it’s not good for the gel to do it too often. I am curious why you don’t wear gloves. I’m not attacking or judging! I’m genuinely curious. I know you wear the fingerless gloves but those are useless when it comes to gel protection. Especially if your HEMA free products still have HPMA. You want to use at least 6 mil nitrile gloves, although 8 mil is better. Then just snip off the tip of each finger as you go. It takes some getting use to, I was going nuts the first few times, but it’s definitely worth it. I love your voice and your videos. They’re so easy to listen to and you explain things so well.
@NicolesBeautyScene11 күн бұрын
@@skim44 I’m always happy to have more nail info- so thank you!! The solid gel would not scoop out at all with the tips- I tried before I started filming and it literally didn’t move unless I used the metal cuticle pusher 😭 That’s good to know about the free edge thank you!! The gel was not at all softening with the cuticle pusher so I’ll have to try the gloves! The ones I have are a lower nitrile number than that so I’ll have to look for higher ones and try the snipping as I go! Thank you!! And thank you for the kind words!!

@NicolesBeautyScene13 күн бұрын
I’ve actually never heard of that to sharpen them but that’s interesting! I honestly don’t know how that would work. To me it seems like seasoning them against a hand file would make them dull not sharper. Especially the removal bits with all the grooves in them- seems like it wouldn’t work to me!
