5 star video on extremely effective hitting mechanics. You follow these drills, do them religiously, and you'll avoid so many problems with your swing. Great vid, thanks Josh.

I cannot believe this video has so few views. It’s a great perspective and to me very insightful in explaining both the good and the bad in other swing “solution drills”.

The knob and rear hip start working everytime... That's automatic... But your reading the location of the ball and adjusting that movement and either 1. Stopping the momentum and taking a ball 2. Starting to use the wrists and reversing the barrel in the direction of the incoming pitch. 3. Is a combination when you're on the fence about taking the pitch but too close and you swing late to spoil a close pitch in a 2 strike count.

Suggestion: When performing The Med Ball Load Drill I have hitters stand 8-10 inches from a wall so that their stride is not to large avoiding that linear drift.

You can only do 1 thing at a time... I can't be thinking one thing a doing something different the mind body connection doesn't work like that... the body is gonna do whatever the mind is thinking about... THE HEAD CONTROLS THE BODY!!

Most of what we do is unconscious... Like running code in a program. I see the knob and rear hip movement as exactly that... It happens every time... As your reading the pitch and trying to react to and through it.

@mikect05 The only way to do something "unconsciously" is to be sleep walking or high of something. If you are awake and doing something, you are conscious of it.

@@dedriccorley1170 I don't think that's even close to accurate. Have you ever read something only to realize that you were following words and turning pages but not really absorbing it? Or have you ever driven somewhere only to get there and not even be able to recall the entire trip... Like your mind was somewhere else? Our brains make shortcuts in repetitive things. We don't make conscious decisions about most of what we do every day, in fact quite the contrary, we are running on autopilot. Now part of being a high level athlete can be overcoming this and as Bruce Lee spoke about "being like water" like still and calm but conscious and alert and able to confirm instantly to any situation. Martial Arts, yoga, meditation all if done correctly can help you to reach new levels of consciousness in your life and you realize how much is actually unconscious. This is well known and understood and fundamental in psychology. This is what is meant by "mindfulness" and this is why mindfulness becomes a key component in so many teachings and disciplines.

@mikect05 I'm consciously not about to read that long reply 😒 just from the first few sentences I was done. Whether I absorbed what I was reading doesn't matter,it still took a conscious effort to perform the act of reading.
