im pretty sure these are called 810 aurora not azuma... i think azuma is LNER branding. hitachi a train or IET represents the whole family

The EMR Class 810s are going to be called 'Aurora'; 'Azuma' should really only be applied to the LNER Class 800 & 801 trains, I think. I was at Sheffield station yesterday (17th) and asked an EMR staff member 'when will the Auroras come into service?'. The immediate response was a guffaw. Then the staff member went on to talk about continued testing, etc. But the considered response was, "definitely by the end of this year"!

@StagecoachLE yes but it's running off electric motors on a non electricified line using diesel power is that a 1st? unless it's a battery operated train. Like the 801s have a diesel motor

@@declangaming24 The 222s they'll replace work that way, as do the 220 and 221 from the same family. None of them actually have a direct connection between the diesel engines and motors. They're also classed as DEMUs rather than DMUs for this reason
