I dealt with this back in 2020/2021. Lost my low register below low Bb. Went with acrylic, but not for me. Mainly found it difficult to play with clear front. Slower response? Anyways, it went away when I got off a raw brass trumpet to a lacquered trumpet. Went back to silver plated, and it went away, but i noticed some manufacturers plating set my lips on fire quickly. Played comfortably, still middle-school level low register. Couple weeks ago I discovered an old video, and yeah… I definitely ended up changing the mouthpiece placement from no symptoms, to current day. Placed mouthpiece there, and voilà…. I had everything back. Next day, lips on fire within seconds, on any silver or gold mouthpiece. I’ve read that allergies will reappear quickly on previous areas of high sensitivity. Frustrating, but I at least know the issue. Giving stainless a try, new piece on the way. If that doesn’t work, there is a customer maker here in America that does Acrylic rims and cup interiors on brass shells, and can duplicate my favorite piece.

Thanks for your comment! Yes it sounds like we have had very similar experiences. So far I have found the stainless mouthpieces to have no color in the sound and sort of harsh no matter how large. As I've been spending more time with my Pickett acrylic stuff I am feeling more and more comfortable with it. Definite loss in projection compared to metal, but feels great on the chops and I feel the sound is more flexible. Thanks again for sharing your experience here!

I don't worry, I CARE. If I cared only about things I can control, I wouldn't do much. I can control my own actions and reactions, but not those of others. Still, I have to take them into account and prepare for them if need be. I also care about YOUR health and want to share an experience: I gave up push-ups and pull-ups alltogether because they did me more harm than good and replaced them by softer exercises, with full success.

i totally agree and support this! i started trumpet journey not so long ago but with a strong identification with it.. making it one of the things that define me also.. and recently had a very similar click... if i could share, i also love rap, guitar, skateboarding, rubiks cube psychology and linguistics! I also think that all these other things you do nurture in a very special and unique way how you express yourself with the instrument... each person is a world full of variety... ill say it again i totally support this.. enjoy life!

This - like a lot of your videos - hits close to home. The short story I used for a long time is that I learned to play trumpet because I thought it was cool. I started teaching to supplement my gig income. I learned to use Finale and compose in order to write for bands I played with. In the end, I realized all anybody wanted was a dude to run the board at a punk rock show. Long story short, I started doing instrument repairs when a really bad tech did work on one of my horns when I was 18 or 19. I got pissed at the guy, told him I could do better, bought a blow torch and soldering flux at Home Depot, and...I did. A couple decades later, it's now probably 80% of my income. Aside from people I see on gigs, I get to talk to a lot of musicians I wouldn't normally be around, since everyone breaks their gear. The pattern I see with a lot of them is that they're trapped in the moment, and essentially paralyzed in any way that's not conducive to maintaining their careers. Unless it's work-related, they have to think really hard about it. I'm to the point now where I'm skilled at what I do. I can play the damn trumpet - I've played with Grammy winners, I'm a seasonal musician with Disney, I can walk in and read a new musical without stepping in too many holes. I can teach - I've had students graduate and go into military bands, conservatories, etc. I've done R&D for several trumpet related products like mouthpieces and mutes. I can work machinery and rebuild a clarinet that was used as a baseball bat. But what do I do with my own time? I repair Italian cars (currently 2 Alfas), collect watches (Seiko to Omega; huge shoutout to Sea-Gull, too), rebuild parts of the house (electrical, the deck), do graphic/video editing, and all sorts of other stuff. Half the tools I have in my repair shop are repurposed from automotive, gunsmithing, and jewelry industries anyway, so there were a lot of easy transitions. I rewired an ultrasonic cleaning machine in the last 2 months, and accidentally learned how to set up solar panels and hook them up to the grid in the process. 6 months ago, I couldn't tell you squat about amperage, watts, volts, wire gauges, contactors, and all that. In a year, I'll probably have panels on my roof, and install a pool heater. I found that being able to talk to people about widespread, well-received things opens up a large amount of possibilities. I know more people. I know people who reach beyond where I am. I can walk into a coffee shop, Home Depot, a concert hall, a mechanic shop, or a Rolex authorized dealer, and legitimately connect to somebody with conversation. I talk to people about ROI when they open a new location of their businesses. I'm acquainted civil, criminal, family, and labor law practices. I have a realistic understanding of international politics through the US, Europe, the middle east, a bunch of Asia. Does anybody ask about trumpet? Sometimes, yeah. But it's more likely someone's going to ask about my shoes, and yes, I know exactly where the tannery that made the leather is. More than anything else, with music, I'm grateful for the people I've met who've had similar progressions as me - people who became passionate about stuff they enjoy and made the best of it, people who had an idea and became entrepreneurs, people who pivoted entirely and found out they were predisposed to being good at something at random. I know artists, engineers, groundskeepers, armorers, billionaires, and guys who play dominos while smoking a cigar. I like all of them. I'm glad the channel finally got monetized. Quoth the prophet Redman, "Cash rules everything around me - C.R.E.A.M - get the money; dolla dolla bill y'all."

My lips started to tremble or shake at a young age. Around 20 or even younger. The problem is that i played with this shaking or sometimes it was like a vibrato that i could not control and I was not aware of it until I was 24 yo. I think it started when I was younger than 20.

Not correct that your throat is wide open when whispering nor is it wide open when singing normally or falsetto - you're both wrong. There's never "no tension" - there's always tension, it has to be in the right amount and balance. You couldn't play without tension.
