What does a Mercury 2.5 cost?... I've never heard about what they cost?... Or, where you can get one.... By the way, that's a super nice setup you have there!..
@spencelake1484 Жыл бұрын
Just the powerhead is about 10 to 15k, the 15"mid section another 5k and the sporty gear case 5K...easily 20K+ hanging off the transom

@@spencelake1484 wow! Thank you for the info on that... I'd seen a lot of them in videos , but , I'd never heard what they cost... That's kinda expensive isn't it? Well now that I think about it, the new type engines are twice or three times as expensive..... I guess you can't find them used, like other 2 stroke engines out there, LoL and if you did they probably wouldn't be worth buying....
@spencelake1484 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelgreene2920 exactly...merc stopped making these motors years ago, and the power to weight ratio on these older 2 strokes is much better than the new 4 strokes, and why these older motors still fetch good money

@@spencelake1484 thank you so much for the information on these engines, I currently have a Mercury 115 Tower of power on the 13 and a half foot checkmate mx13..... I've been having problems with my water pump on this engine, I had bought another boat with the 115 on it so I could put on my checkmate, the water pump was working it was just peeing slow, so I changed it out with a new one, and for some reason, I've had problems with it cooling, gonna get another water pump kit and try it again, maybe this time it will start cooling again, it should be a fun little boat..... If I can get it to cool.... But, back to the 2.5 Mercury, I have seen them alot on boat's on KZbin, but never any info on them, I would love to have one, but, there doesn't seem to be a lot of information about these engines, unless I have been looking in the wrong place for my information, thank you for your time to help me out with this inquiry about these engines, I appreciate it and maybe I'll get lucky and find one I can acquire reasonably priced, thank you....

Looked like you didn’t want to push it past 100 or you didn’t want to pass the other boats. Did it get unstable at a certain speed? I think that boat can handle 110 plus you definitely still had the motor to push it.
@spencelake1484 Жыл бұрын
If I passed the other boats then I'd be filming nothing but open water...the boat can run 115+...there is a video of it doing 115 in Sept 2022

Great vid of the running gear !..never thought that much of the prop was out of water in a run…it looks to be the center of that ( I suspect ) tunnel hull plays a part to break up leading water for the gear case too ?..screaming 2- strokes are hard to beat 👍🏼

Ya I ended up doing some motor set up changes over the winter and that problem is pretty much a non issue now...she is solid to 110 and to get that last 5 or 8 mph it's all about having the trim set perfect!
