My best car was the 240sx recently, great car for cornering, it fits so well on my handling the way i would handle corners

Nice to see an U2 video nowadays. When i replayed the game like 1 year ago, i used the 106, and that thing when is fully upgraded, it just slaps everything in cornering while being fast enough, it's just insane, until the rubber banding kicks in lol (i don't know if car performance varies in every version of the game). Then i tried the Civic and it's a little faster than the Peugeot but it doesnt perform like the glued-106 in corners. As idea for a new video (if you like of course), do a test of every maxed out car in the Loop without NoS. With the "Loop" i refer to the main highway of the open-world mode which you can be going in "circles" how many times you like. If you want to see at what routes i refer, there's a race from the campaign which has this route, and you will spot it in no time viewing in the quick race menu of the campaign after beating the game. Don't go into setups because at least half of the players didn't tweak with these. You could set a starting/finish point and record and chrono it at the same time (while you comment how the car did feel while doing the loop), then you show and compare the times. It should be a longer video, but at the same time interesting and relaxing. Thanks for this video, and for reading this wall of text. If you do the video of the Loop, quote me on it 😸.

My personal first car choice was always the 240SX, it has the best balance of acceleration, top speed and handling. And I haven't changed that for 20 years.

Fair warning: Adding both EU and US cars together and play with both enabled, may cause instability and infinite loading when entering races / freemode. Best thing to do, is within the NFSU2 Extra Options config file, set the game to NTSC or PAL (EU or US version) and enable Region cars lock, since the game was not meant to use both regions in a single game.

For me the best are 106 and Civic (depends on game version), worst are MX5 or Corolla.

I think the Corolla is the best starter car. It is not ultra fast but ultra agile.

civic and Ae86 remains the better cars for me. i completely disregard german cars existing though i have some sort of sympathy with mercedes and bmw. OFC especially the m3 GTR

The Honda Civic is one of my most favorite Starter Cars in the game but seeing it have the best lap time not fully upgraded came as a surprise to me

For drag racing; the quarter mile test track is not the best since cars are only utilising their acceleration competitiveness and not top speed stats. ANd the AE86 loses performance with level 3 tranny and coil-overs. Otherwise, super solid and loved it.

I like when Rog is included. He should've played a bigger role in the game. I always wished he was the one to call about the bridge.

I always pick the ae86 sprinter trueno as starter car, because I really want to recreate the legendary Akina's best downhill machine. Of course, panda livery and no turbo upgrades

Lol The 106 and the Corsa are in my Copy on the OG Xbox but the Civic Si ist the only starter car that I haven't and the MX5 comes with the first cars that I can unlock.

For little ten your old me I always thought the 240sx was the secret cheat code choice because you surprisingly unlocked it much later in the Underground 1 story and I thought they made a “mistake” giving it to you so early in Underground 2. It also seemed like it had the better stats so it was a no brainer choice. Boy was ten year old me wrong 😅😂

If you test every car, please speak during the testing. Also, please re-test to see if removing parts (i.e. stage 3 transmission vs stock) actually makes a car faster (I know thats true for the corolla, but what about the other starter cars?)

Good music choice, NFS III Hot Pursuit was my first game I ever played when I was 6 years old. Still a great game. :)

from what i can tell the Corolla would ended up having an AWD swaps when fully upgraded which makes it even more quicker & it certainly does thanks to it being lightweight

Ok, wow. I did NOT expect the Corsa to beat the Corolla, let alone be in 1st. I'm going to suggest one more thing: test the starter cars with Stage 1 parts, except for the turbo. This is what you have available when you're at the Beacon Hill stage. And after I'm done with Pro Street (which will be soon), I had the idea to redo the Underground 2 testing, including starter cars with Stage 1 parts. But this time, I'll be doing the testing on one of the airport tracks (either the 5th or 6th one). Mainly because it includes a massive straight, so we can measure that too. And of course, so we can have more data. By the time I'm done, these cars will have been thoroughly tested on two different tracks.

240sx is very good car to use..its one of the top 3 best...i guess the Corolla is number 1..Corsa is number 2.. For me Mx5 is best car in the game(and my favourite starter) along with the Toyota Celica. When you upgrade the MX5 to the max with uniques..you can max out the slider to full acceleration..you can still reach top speed of 340km...i dont know how is this possible.

Corolla because it’s so broken AF. Leave stock diff because it’s apparent faster than aftermarket and kept 5 speed gearbox

I personally, always go the Corolla sprinter... Every time.. I pimp it up, to the max, spoiler, widebody.... roof and other such factors.. I don't mess with it's height all too much though..

Should have had all the cars on PS2 and idk why you can't view your magazine and DVD covers in the career menu on that version, the PC version is king because of that and the graphics are in 720 instead of 480

My first playthrough was with the 106. Loved the great but kinda twitchy handling. That was also the only time I really finished the game, because every other time it always got so damn boring towards the end because of URL races and the endless driving around the map to start events. Really have to give it a shot again with that teleport mod I've seen some guys use. 😅

A big issue with UG2 is that the later cars tend to wind up worse overall than the earlier and lighter vehicles IIRC, with a few exceptions. But yeah, it'd be nice to see a full lap/drag breakdown so I could get a better idea on which vehicles deserve buffs and where (and also where noteworthy addon cars would fit among their ranks).

oh boy, the urge to play underground 2 boiled up again. atleast now i'll play it with knowladge
