You youngsters kill me. Jute twine? Sure it works but I'd be more likely to have cedar bark than jute twine. I don't own a ferro rod but I do know how to use a true flint and steel.

I'd use cedar bark if there were cedars in my area of the eastern woodland in WV. The area I was in that day doesn't have conifers. But I agree you should know more primitive ways of starting a fire.

One of the best features is that the bit holder takes standard bits instead of the weird flat ones that Leatherman uses.

I bought one a couple of years ago. It seems like a nice knife but the handle is too short for me so its not very comfortable. Other than that works great

Danish oil on the wood according to BPS website. I've had the smaller one for a while, good but the handle is less safe than the adventurer. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for that. Danish oil. I agree with you about the handle. I just bought another adventurer and tightened down the handle again. Works great now.

Nice video, bro! Ole West Virginy has some beautiful country. Always love making trips there on our way down to the Smokies and then down to my side of the family in SC and FL (I avoid 95 like the plague). Man, thanks for your service. Happy belated Veterans Day. I was with 2nd MarDiv 2005-2009 RAH

You're right. I had to go look it up again because when I made the video I forgot what model it was. Leatherman didn't renew the patent in time for the Wave so Walmart bought it.

Mine unfortunately needed some sharpening tlc, but aside from that, most definitely worth 10 bucks. It's extremely light weight and frankly for how simple the sheath is I was surprised to find that it's actually ambidextrous. There's a lot there for 10 bucks.

I know its been a while since you posted this vid. But i agree over all the blade and striker seem to be sturdy. Got it a few months back during the after christmas clearance sale. Havent opened it till recently. The fixed blade seems to be sturdy. I like the holster. Gives proper protection to the blade and self. Was worried the striker wouldnt be secure but its solid. I would say its a bit better than and amature grade knife. And honestly may be sufficient for practical and survival usage. Ive had bad experiences with a KA-Bar style knife. It ended up being only in name. Was poor quality and the blade became dangerously loose during practical borderline survival usage. Honestly would love to get a good quality KA-BAR but pretty sure a GOOD quality one would be much more expensive than this. Thought Ozark trail was just another budget quality walmart brand. At best day camping. But also purchased an Ozark Trail 50ltr Box Backpack. Is also surprisingly sturdy quality. i would trust it with practical/survival usage. In 2014 i went abroad with some of my freinds and we did some backpacking. My first time...and i wasnt so smart and just bought what looked decent and was budget friendly. That is when that KA-BAR looking knive failed me. We were in the middle of a backpacking route north from Punta Arenas in chile up to San Barloche in Argentina. Basically a roughly 1200 mile hike give or take a hundred miles...through patagonia a month before winter was set to to kick in. We were trying to leave before we got looked down in the snow. Sure for some a trip like that may be extreme but it tests your survival skills in situations. Like with this blade...good quality blade and or fire striker could easily be life and death if you need it. Sure in the US we dont have as many situations like that unless your in the far north. But i honestly wish i had this blade with me when i was traveling. I will probably swap alot of my stuff for Ozark Trail. Thought maybe i was not judging the blade fairly but seems someone else seems to agree the blade is pretty decent.

The problem with Ozark Trail is people expect perfection out of cheap Chinese made products. Its acceptable for what it is. Its unacceptable for what it is not. Its a cheap knife and it fits the bill, but its not garbage.
