This is the most realistic Lego city I've ever seen. Looks like real life society. But what do you mean by "Digital?"
@CanosieLabsКүн бұрын
hi, Digital as in, it's not real. I used Bricklink's Studio to build the city and rendered using Blender. If you look at my community tab, the most recent post will give a idea of what I do.

Your PC must be powerfull...or are you using a render farm?
@CanosieLabsКүн бұрын
hi, its powerful, but not a super computer. It has a 3090 which helps. I don't use a render farm.

How the HELL is the texturing, lighting and physics this good?!

The animation of wheel/rail interaction of the 'slightly uneven' track, and the coupler push/pull/left/right interaction, is top notch. Really sells the 'realism' of it all.

Works much more reliably than the "real" Lego trains, I imagine. Nice!
@andybond50022 күн бұрын
I think this is all real and the designer is a billionaire who spends all his money on lego bricks. The "digital" city is cover story.

I really, REALLY want to see something that proves, definitively, that this is all digital. Like a wireframe render of the scene or maybe a flat shaeded version. I am having a hard time believing this is digital! The train even bounces around on the track like a real Lego train!
@CanosieLabs2 күн бұрын
hi, my Instagram has some wireframe/clay renders, but I posted this short video on reddit with a clay render too. www.reddit.com/r/DigitalLego/comments/1f8uo9f/train_switching_operations_on_my_digital_lego/

I’ve worked it out. It’s looks so real because it is! Just doesn’t want to admit how much money he is spending on Lego to his partner!! 😉

Did you animate all train movements by hand or is there some sort of plugin, such that the lego trains stick to and follow automatically their tracks?
@CanosieLabs2 күн бұрын
hi, the train axels follow a path and I add in some random shaking. The path, specifically a curve, is then laid on top of the track. It's not keyframe animation, but done in Blender's geometry nodes.

I have to admit that this is the first video I've seen from which I cannot tell if its real or cgi.
@jeremyoverby89712 күн бұрын
Should try to make it so the train switches at a slower speed. More realistic. Awesome as hell though

Amusing how you added that camera cut at 1:28 to "hide" the train car being unattached. It could be animated in Blender, but of course it wouldn't look natural for that to happen all by itself (ghosts?). The camera being a little bit off after the cut is also a nice touch, feels very realistic.

Looks amazing. Now all you need is a Supra and a Charger in a quarter mile drag race flying over the level crossing.

I gave the 100th like. I can prove it: it goes from 99 to 099 and then to 100. This comment is more creative than "1st" or "bro fell off".

would love to see a making of about how you model and animate these videos! especially the camera movements and how/if the trains interact with the rails

yeah, I want to do that too.

Amazing! Just a note - switch at 1:18 is in the wrong position. At 2:05 and 2:37, I would add the sound of the switch being back-tailed (flipping). That said, I have no idea how do you create such animations. They are just wonderful!
@Ashwagash2 күн бұрын
Amazing! I spotted a small issue with the switch at 1:18 . It’s set to straight but the train gos around the curve. Is the model you use movable?
@CanosieLabs2 күн бұрын
hi. No, unfortunately, it isn't movable. I may add in that little detail later though in my next video.

Sry Canosie but what you build there is real not CGI, I can clearly see it!

Approximate render time: 3,5 days.
@CanosieLabs2 күн бұрын
I render at 30fps and each frame takes around 1.5 minutes on average. So it's like 4 days of non-stop rendering.
@mplouis2 күн бұрын
@@CanosieLabs Last time you said 1 minute per frame 😉
@mplouis2 күн бұрын
@@CanosieLabs That should be 3.66 days then with 1 minute per frame.
@CanosieLabs2 күн бұрын
@@mplouis lol yeah. The closer in the shot, the long the render time b/c of the subsurface scattering on the bricks. For these train shots, the camera was closer then normal.
