i am sorry, i am completely new to chockers, what is the point of them? is there a thrill towards wearing them and showing them off? can anyone explain them to me? thanks
@CyberDenna Жыл бұрын
I wear them as accessories like I would a necklace or bracelet. I would say all of these are fashion chokers, due to the material they're made of and their closures. While they are a bit more of a statement piece than a necklace, I wouldn't say that there's a particular thrill when wearing them, although depending on where you live, people may react more to you wearing them. I wear them because I like how they look and how they feel, not because I want to show off or shock people :)

What are you rolling them on in the beginning? The blue mat looking thing... I see ppl using towels to roll them on and that's not working for me and I wish I had a sushi roller thing but can't find one in my town yet. Lol
@CyberDenna Жыл бұрын
It's a towel wrapped (very tightly) around a board and clamped to my table! The clamps also help to keep the towel taut so it doesn't roll with the wool. But there are some loose threads on it that would get caught, so I would just rip them out of the towel, or cut them off so they wouldn't keep getting wrapped around the dreads.

Did you apply the semi permanent on while they were wet or dry?
@CyberDenna2 жыл бұрын
I usually apply the dye when they are dry for maximum colour pay off. But you can apply when they are damp if you aren't sure if you have enough dye as this can help the dye go further.

I have demonias in other styles but shockingly none of the platforms but I'm dying for these ones! How easy of a walk do you think they are for non platform experienced folks/weak ankled people?
@CyberDenna2 жыл бұрын
I have kind of weak ankles, the good thing with these is because they are a boot you get support around your ankle. However, because these have a heel to them, they can make my ankles hurt occasionally. I think the flatforms would probably be a better option, although I'm not sure if this glittery style has a flatform option.

What kind of shampoo do you use
@CyberDenna2 жыл бұрын
I usually use a clarifying shampoo or a volumising one! Anti-dandruff also would be good, but I'd stay away from hydrating ones because you want to rough up the fibers as much as possible :)

Can I ask why the soap? What's the purpose and do you have to use it?
@CyberDenna3 жыл бұрын
From my experience it helps with roughing up the fibres of the wool so they lock together tighter. I think you would be able to do it without the soap, but I would recommend doing an ice bath between hot dips to encourage the fibres to lock together. Alternatively you could also use a felting needle to assist the locking process 🙂

You can totally just do it by hand without the mat! I’ve done that in the past, just make sure you look after your hands and take a break if they are sore. You can also use another towel, or I’ve even seen people use bubble wrap! Hope these options help

I have white wool, and I'm thinking to dye it with regular ammonium hairdye, because it as same as I using for my hair, so colour will much and look natural... But, I'm afraid if its going to work or may destroyed wool dreadlocks. What do you think about that?
@CyberDenna3 жыл бұрын
I have used professional colours on my wool dreadlocks in the past, including colours that need peroxide to process. It hasn’t destroyed the dreadlocks and it worked well for colouring to certain tones. I would just test it on a small dreadlock or an extra piece to check how it works with your product!

Do you know whether it matters what kind of sheep wool you use or is regular sheep wool good enough
@CyberDenna3 жыл бұрын
I usually buy merino sheep wool, but any sheep that has fibrous wool should work the same way. Acrylic yarn wouldn’t work because it doesn’t have the same fibres to knot together. But I imagine even alpaca wool would work!
@EncinaSevera3 жыл бұрын
How much wool do you use for a full set? How many double ended dreads do you make to finish a full set? I have long hair. How much would you recommend that I purchase?
@EncinaSevera3 жыл бұрын
O! And also, how much shampoo do you use and does it need to be a certain kind?
@CyberDenna3 жыл бұрын
I used maybe 200g of merino wool roving, but I only have a half head of dreadlocks. Also the amount you use will depend on how thick you want them and also how long. I had 28 double ended dreadlocks which was about a half head, but I do have slightly denser hair so I needed more for fuller coverage. The length of your hair doesn’t effect how many you buy, it is more dependant on how thick and dense it is. If you’ve got thinner/finer hair you can get less and if you have thick/dense hair you’ll need more to achieve a fuller look. I usually dilute some sulphate free shampoo with water when I wash my hair with them in and use an applicator bottle to apply just to the roots. But normally I remove them once a week to wash my hair and wash them separately and hang them to dry for a day and then put them back in. Still just using diluted shampoo and rinsing them very well.

I've bought a few pre made sets and just bought wool roving to try making my own, I plan on dying it before rolling and then rolling in a little of my rabbits fur (from brushing) into one of the locs so then people will be like why do you have a white patch and I'll just show them my 2 white rabbits (one is a lionhead so a lot of fur comes out on the weekly brush) I think its a cool idea and I tried rolling some of their fur after brushing today and I have a tiny 3 inch pure white loc🥺

Im going to buy these same in pink but im REALLY worried ab the glitter. I asume u have walked in these for sum time does the glitter fall of? Cuz im going to wear these in school im scared the floors will sparkle with that pink glitter and i have another thing: would they get ruined if i walk with them in rain? Like im not going to get them soaking wet but if they get sum rain in them will the glitter fall off :( ? Cuz weather here in finland changes all the time so if im in school and i would need to walk little bit in in the rain do they get fucked?
@CyberDenna3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t noticed the glitter coming off very much at all when walking in them. But I’m not too sure about getting them wet, I haven’t worn them when it is rainy sorry! Maybe have boot covers that you wear when its raining heavily? You could make some cute ones out of fabric and elastic just to give extra protection when outside.

It could be faded out with hot water and anti-dandruff shampoo, but the colour holds on fairly well from my experience. I would redye them maybe every 2-3 months just to keep the colour vibrant because the Australian sun causes fading too.
