And then sweet fishtail into a monster truck of shame Carved out of soap and steel and clay and salty fame You were the first to look away and against me Well shake the squirrel out your tree Blind Get dressed and go outside Fluoresce into the sky His arms will open wide All that you see is I know it's you still breathing static in my ear Truly damning and pretending I can't hear You think I'm sleepin' when I peek and see your bra Forgot you told me in your car Blind Get dressed and go outside Fluoresce into the sky His arms will open wide All that you see is Blind Get dressed and go outside Fluoresce into the sky His arms will open wide All that you see is And then you ask me why I pin this to your shirt Although your hands are clean your heels are caked with dirt So put me on your list of men that have gone sour And you're the couple of the hour Blind Get dressed and go outside Fluoresce into the sky His arms will open wide All that you see is Blind Get dressed and go outside Fluoresce into the sky His arms will open wide All that you see is Blind Get dressed and go outside Fluoresce into the sky His arms will open wide All that you see is blind

This is the version 1 of the song's M/V and was only for the UK, Irish, and Aussie markets but was briefly aired in Canada. It was filmed in Liverpool on camcorder and the lineup here was Chris Sharrock (drums) and Barry Sutton (lead guitar). Later, a second version for the American and worldwide markets was shot in Los Angeles, CA and its neighboring towns. And that had two new members: Peter Camell (lead guitar) and Lee Mavers' younger brother Neil (drums). Neil was a roadie for the band but took over the drums when Sharrock left.

This is so bizarre for me to hear the censored parts. Been listening to the CD forever and only ever heard the uncensored version. “What the HELL gave birth to you”? And “I’m gonna have to kick your dumpy butt, shorty!”?!? Wwwow I’ve never heard that! Crazy lol.

As one who grew up in a family of musicians (and became one myself), I've been exposed to almost every sort of musical genre one can think of. Many of which, I have no problem listening to, but the genre that I gravitated to in my hyperactive upbringing was good ol' Rock & Roll (hard, classic metal, etc.). But one of things that has always made me a musical snob is the actual musicianship of the band itself. I've heard so many songs that were so awful that I keep telling myself "I'm in the wrong business. I just need ONE and with my background I can SURELY do better than the crap I keep hearing on the radio." New Wave and those things along that line to me were just simply AWFUL beyond all measure for a myriad of reasons. I still maintain this 100%.... but using THIS song as a prime example that even a squirrel can find a nut every now and then. Doesn't matter what band you are, what genre you are, what your range of talent is. The plain truth is this: If can come up with that ear pleasing melody, no matter HOW SIMPLE it is and put that proverbial hook to it? You could be dog crap..... except for THAT ONE. This song right here can easily turn into an earworm because it has that melody and hook. Bravo!

@@InsaneStryker777 "Nerdo." <<crickets>> One would be hard pressed to be found believable by anyone using this goofy term. That said, it seems much more believable that "the whole album is not great."

@@FrankenstratAssassin Normally I would agree. It’s a high school insult, at best. But you, my friend, personify the term.

@@FrankenstratAssassin You should listen to the album. It’s not “virtuoso,” but they’re proficient musicians with great songs. It’s soul music. It might be genetic. I’m mostly Scots Irish. But, spiritual life is rooted in the blood, as they say…
@FrankenstratAssassin
@FrankenstratAssassin 2 ай бұрын
@@InsaneStryker777 Seeing as how you acknowledge the "high school at best," but yet keep slinging the "high school at best" at the same time, seems to me SOMEONE is certainly personifying "high school at best" and it sure isn't me.. Therefore it is easy for me to respond with.... "I'm rubber and you're glue".... "I know you are but what am I?"....etc. etc. Tell you what, IS777, and I mean this with all sincerity, I will absolutely give you credit for not just standing your ground for this band, but believing that someone such as myself (who has already self-admitted to being a music snob.... I also grew up in Chicago and I am even MORE of a pizza snob too aye-yaye-yaye some places are simply brutal with pizza and have no clue!!) may actually like listening to the entire LP of this group too. As you are firm in the quality of the "The La's" and as I am one who has no problem with a group that captures a listener regardless of how talented they are (ABBA is a GREAT example of that-- a guilty pleasure for almost everyone no differently than the Beach Boys, to which I'm on board with both), I will respectfully take this on and give it a try this weekend. Although, I'm quite a bit tainted by another band from Liverpool.... I will absolutely give a listen to and more than once. Even I know first time listens aren't really worth their weight in salt as they are just so new to a listener not knowing what to expect and how to process it. If anyone, not just you, is adamant about it, I have no problem checking it out to see for myself. I always enjoy new music and will take a shot. Believe me, in my old age time warp, I'm very tired of the same stuff I've listened to for decades and decades--- I'm ALWAYS thrilled to find something NEW that pleases me). Oh, much like pizza.... bangers and mash are also rooted in the soul too, and I'm a big fan there on that too (I have a small smidgeon of Irish in my own Nordic blood). So, bottom line you're firm in resolve, I will accept that. I will give it a go in the next couple of days and actually DO hope you are right. If it doesn't do anything for me other than put me back in dorkville, I'll be honest.... and nice about it. In the meantime, I'm quite certain you are a friendly fellow and trading musical barbs to elbow another (and please remember, I already admitted to my Step One to the program to start out with!! Credit for that!) Enjoy your Friday evening IS777 and have a better weekend along with it. Now if you'll please excuse me, I have several cocktails waiting for me, and I think I might as well have some Guinness extra stout for the high school at best insult guy too!!! 😁

I was working in a record store in Dallas when this song came out. I must have heard it 1000 times on the store speakers. The record labels would have these discs, that we were forced to play, with songs from bands that they were trying to push. This was one of them. I was in to bands like Alice In Chains and Soundgarden so this music made me want to hurt people. But now that it’s been more than 30 years, it’s really not that bad. Much better than the other version that came out years later with the female singer.
