Didn’t realize we were all suppose to cut that hill climb in half after the first race that saved a significant amount of time off each lap. Good riding I was on you for a while but I kept going up over the top of that hill making me drop back slowly from you! Then last lap sent her a bit too hard into the log crossings entering the back side broke my rear brake lever
@wallyjoiner454 ай бұрын
@@509FUN Yeah that was a bit "grey", we'll call it, lol, during the first moto. We did ask about just needing to go to the end of the ribbon vs all the way up on the trail, and the answer was a little vague. They did move the ribbon down to just turn halfway at the beginning of the second moto, but I'm guessing it got blown out pretty quickly. Bummer you ended up running the full hill the whole time. Good riding though! 👍 Sucks about the brake lever; that's always a bummer.

Is it a hard race or entry level race ?
@wallyjoiner45 Жыл бұрын
It isn't super difficult. As far as Hare Scrambles races go, it is a little more difficult than most, but nothing crazy. The difficulty level really depends on the conditions. If it is really muddy, it can get pretty difficult due to deep ruts and slick roots. If it's dry, it is substantially easier.

@wallyjoiner4510 ай бұрын
Hey, just saw this comment and realized I never answered. Sorry! Really depends on the Enduro. This one had tests that were anywhere from 6 min to 20 min times. All of them were within the sections. I've only ever done one Enduro that had tests at the start of the sections. That was a National Enduro many years ago. 🤙

@wallyjoiner452 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. 👍 I find that 2 strokes have bit of an advantage in deep mud when you need a lot of RPMs to power through stuff, but the 4 strokes are better in the slick stuff. There was a little of both in this one. I think it's mostly the 34 years and 7 motorcycle related joint surgeries that makes me back off in the fast slick stuff. 😂

How does this tire compare to the ibex?
@wallyjoiner452 жыл бұрын
Overall, I would say that the VE33s gives up a little bit of initial traction performance to the Ibex in exchange for being a much more versatile tire. The casing is heavier and rubber compound not quite as soft as the Ibex. A lot of people, including myself, have a hard time keeping knobs on the Ibex for very long. In my experience, I would say that while the Ibex has all of it's knobs, it is stickier overall for extreme terrain, but the VE33s traction will last longer and keep its knobs longer. Also, I think that if you want to ride some faster, easier stuff, the VE33s handles substantially better.

So if you were to pick something to run Stix and Stones, what would you run? I am currently running a 525 on the Beta, and I have an mx33 on my Yamaha. The mx33 gets great traction but the compound is super hard, I don't have much faith in it for the roots and big rocks. I have thought about this tire, the 525, or the Knarly. Kinda sitting in the unknown still with it.
@wallyjoiner453 жыл бұрын
I haven't fully made up my mind, but I am leaning towards the VE33S and a worn out/squishy mousse. I tend to struggle most on soft hill climbs and I think the VE33S digs a little better than the IX09. My other consideration is running the VE33S for hot lap day and the IXO9 for the race, since the IXO9 does a little better in the big slick rocks and tree roots. It will be some combination or either/or of those two tires though.
@shannonshull69893 жыл бұрын
Theres a balance between soft enough for slow tec Gnarly rock traction (trials) and then having a tire that wont come apart ripping through fast paced hard terrain. Personally, Ill take a soft gummy type tire for traction any day between the two, even if it only lasts a race or 2.
