Our GE refrigerator is sounding like water is spraying. We shut the water off and it stopped. Turned it on and the noise started again. 😞

Very helpful. Thank you. My fridge has been sitting for over a year without water running through it... I plumbed the water filter pipe to the fridge this week, when I looked at the water from the fridge it was light brown in color. I definitely need to flush it out.

Your instructions were so helpful! We live in a loft so do not have access to the floors above and below us like we did when we lived in a house. I had to shut off the water main and used gravity and the pump in the fridge to pull the vinegar into the line. It was quick and easy and that terrible smell and taste is finally gone! Thanks!

Good video did help. I took the hose off, covered the end with my finger and stuck it straight in the vinegar. Cycled the water till it smelled like vinegar, hooked the water back up and cycled till it didn't smell like vinegar. All this process with the filter out because they are $50 and I just changed. Again good video

Tip: Siphon the vinegar into the water line. You'll get a mouth full, and the floor will get wet/ disinfected as you try and twist it on. Then give it about 5-10 minutes to build up pressure. it works really quickly and well.

I would never have thought to do this but it is a perfectly good solution. I think I would put a cutoff on the hose as well as a little clean out T below that where I could add a short length of pipe to be able to use a funnel to slowly pour the vinegar into the line. This is so good. I haven't looked yet, but I am hopeful you did more than this one video. You have a great mind for thinking outside the box. Appreciate your help. Jesus bless.

I cannot seem to get this to work. If the syringe is too big to fit over the water line opening is that my problem? I mean there is a little bit of vinegar getting in there but not all.

If you can keep the water line full of water when you disconnect from the fridge, then you can put it directly in the vinegar without filling it up more

@colewarner

I don't think cleaning vinegar comes at 100%, but acid cleans, and the tubes are plastic and vinegar doesn't react to it. So I don't see the problem? Gotta kill all the growing stuff

You may have a pamphlet buried away somewhere on your fridge or you can look it up on the internet, but your fridge may support a code to fill and/or dump the ice maker. Just put something in the ice maker to catch the vinegar and you can quickly run a few cycles - then when the water line is back in repeat with water.

Thanks for the vid! I did it and it worked! Didn't need to prime the water line with a syringe; I was able to just stick it into the vinegar bottle and place it on top of my fridge and it worked. Had to leave the filter in my fridge (GE) so the water dispenser functioned. Put a new water filter in after I reconnected the water line and flushed out the vinegar and water tastes great now! Cheers!
