Better use organic oranges if you are going to make candied orange peels. There's a lot of pesticide in non-Organic grown oranges

Wasn't a fan of Ribbon candy. Maybe as a child my sweet tooth had not fully gone wild. We were limited on how many sweets we were allowed to eat. That does not explain my love of Cotton candy🙃

Glad to see Divinity go! It was the only sweet that did not tempt me. Way too sweet, even for my worst sweet tooth days!

Do any of you remember the tiny cut glass jars of Kraft cheese spreads. We always saved the glasses for morning orange juice. It came in plain cheese, pimento cheese and cheese with bits of olive. Removed the metal cap with a church key.

Dollar General luncheon meat - not got no corned beef - not got any pastrami either. EVER! No sour dough bread. Rye . . . Forget it. And not a real bagel in sight. Round bread that is labeled as bagels. Lying bastards! Oh, and lots and lots of choices for flour tortillas. But you aint gonna find a corn tortilla to make enchiladas. DG is a half mile from my house. And I wakl a few times a week. Walmart is an 18 mile round trip. It is a U.S. road. And that is a really long walk with traffic buzzing along at 65 mph if that slow. And no! I do not hitch hike at age 73. Gouda cheese -> they have no idea what I'm speaking of. At least our DG now has some fresh meat, but not a wide variety. At lot of price gouging goes on at DG with reciepts not matching the posted shelf price. So, I watch for occasional special 2 for or 3 for price drops. But such is life in a town with barely a thousand population in a 3 square mile city limit. I havent really landed at the end of the earth. But at the city line I can look over the edge

I don't who put this crappy video together, but I can get almost all of these sandwiches here in California. Maybe you live in a basement and never go anywhere.

The lady pictured smoking the Eve cigarette has quite a prominent moustache. Was Eve the cigarette of choice in circuses? Also, one of your Raleigh smokers was enjoying a joint rather than a Raleigh. And another was smoking a cigar. This is confusing.

Cranberry relish, jello, corn pudding, divinity, fruit cake, and ambrosia all still common here in the midwest😂

Ribbon candy was made by only one company. Ever! It's not handmade as you described. They created a machine to stretch the candy into ribbons. There are no more machines so no more ribbon candy. If you do find some ribbon candy it's probably made from the original machine that was stashed somewhere.

I used to love the Oscar Mayer Sandwich Spread as an 80's kid. It was like a ground bologna salad (like the ham salad) with pickle relish in a tube. Yum.

Ambrosia with sour cream, marshmallows and coconut flakes is delicious. My mother also made divinity (heavenly),a confection called Chinese Chews (similar to sugar plums but made with dates) and gumdrop cookies. Good memories.

I had totally forgotten what some people would do after they opened a new pack until I saw your thumbnail. They would pull out one ciggy and put it back in upside down.

Terrific! You’ve listed tongue sandwich twice, first as plain ole’ “tongue sandwich”, then again as “beef tongue sandwich”. Typical US rip-off…

I ate Deviled Ham sandwiches when I was a kid, it was one of the few things I was willing to eat. My mom used to ruin the tuna fish by adding green olives, but she did introduce me to Fried Balogna 😅 I never ate Spam until I was 29, at the future in-laws. I also refused to eat peanut butter & jelly, it was always peanut butter & butter. I can’t wait o try it with bacon. I did finally eat a peanut butter & jelly sandwich when I was 30, but if I was to count how many I’ve had, I still have fingers leftover to count on.

I like canned collard greens, especially with the Southern style seasoning but plain is good. Mixed with peanut butter (or tahini) and Sriracha sauce (or Asian garlicy sauce). On 2 slices of toast. It sounds strange but delish. Healthy too.

If you whip the egg white for pancakes and gently add it to the dough at last, the edges don't roll up, the pancakes remain flat.
