Back in June 1990 I got a 2 wk 1st class BritRail pass & traveled all over UK including this train both ways. Cheers from Vancouver, Canada. I am a "train-a-holic" have traveled over 250,000 km since 1955 mostly here in Canada (51x on The Canadian) as well as Australia (all of May 1987) & Uk.

Really Enjoyed that, as I am originally from Thurso. When was this taken? I'm thinking about 5 years ago?

The video could be a bit clearer as what I am seeing the view of the front of the 37 is blurry as is the scene in front, it should be a lot clearer than it is i put it down to bad filming or the person hasn't set up the camera correctly. I have seen a lot of cab videos and they were all Crystal clear. Sorry but I can't watch it

Great video and really enjoyed it. Only one comment and that is the site of Bunchrew station.......it should be where the "former site of Lentran station" is captioned. Apart from that , really enjoyed the plunge through the foliage!! Looking forward to part 2. Well done!

I wonder how many years have passed since this was taken. The quality is really not concurrent with that achieveable in the last 3-5 years. Onward to Carlisle? As Leylandlad opines - probably a pipedream - but who knows? What was going through the minds of those three on Stow platform making out as if Stow was a request stop. I do hope that another attempt is made under better conditions.

Why does every station announcement sound like "Baker" or "Faker". Is there something wrong with my Smart TV. Is it better on an actual computing device or smartphone?
@grahamclayton111013 күн бұрын
It says 3 car so the driver is reminded where to stop on the platform

Really should be extended to Hawick. I think continuing onto Carlisle from Hawick is a pipe dream sadly

Perhaps they should consider the new Borders Railway as a blank canvas and send it down the western side of the river instead of the east. Riccarton Junction isn't a junction anymore and they'd possibly have the opportunity to serve towns such as Jedburgh and Langholm directly, Langholm without a branch off the main line too. Connecting it to the former alignment at Longtown shouldn't be much of an issue.

Wonderful, even in the rain! Also wonderful tot see the original station buildings and the line side huts have not been replaced with bus shelters and wrecked by vandals as in England.

Although this video is clearly from a time when the Class 334 was already in service, the traction motor sounds are not those of a modern AC-motor set. They sound very much like a PEP-family set, most likely the Class 314, which was also in service with Scotrail at the time.

So glad i went on this new service the day before the queen. It should go all the way to Carlisle. Shame they were so short sighted to not bother to design the new bridges to allow dual lines in the future. Could no one in UK make a curved metal bridge anymore? No one had the skill to make and build a curved spaceous bridge for the same money as the square boring concrete ones they went with? And why so noisy in the cab? Can't they make a modern cab quiet for the driver?? Or insulate the cab they have to use?? You'd have to wear earplugs for H&S in that noise.
